The two-hour undercard airs on Showtime Extreme from 8pm-10pm, and then the main card on regular Showtime from 10pm-midnight EST.

 

Malik Scott vs. Kendrick Releford II, 10 rounds @ heavyweight

 

Round 1

Scott is throwing some hard jabs and rights through the guard and shaking the dreadlocks of Releford, making them stand on end. Scott lands a PEACH of an uppercut. Releford keeps his turtle shell up and spanks out at Scott's sides with down-turned slaps, and then holds his left arm out to push into Scott and line him up for short soft rights to the face. Scott is loading up bombs and landing well with that uppercut on the inside, snapping Releford's head back. Good 1-2 by Scott worked in when they separate as well, although Releford is staying close and slapping the body.

10-9 Scott

 

Round 2

Scott jabs, leans back, and then plows forward with an uppercut when Releford takes the bait and move sin. Releford is swinging his left arm at his side on the way in, trying to get in rhythm. Releford is able to get inside and slap away in the pocket with Scott, landing some glancing hooks to the bald dome. Scott is putting power shots together in twos and threes. Scott digs a right to the body. BIG straight combo to the face by Scott, boom boom boom. Releford's head snapped back hard. Scott is pushing into Releford, forearms to forearms. Scott is still landing uppercuts. Releford is plodding around in a slow circle to his left, trying to push out jabs and straight right hands but unable to beat Scott to the punch. Scott rolls out his left and holds Releford at bay with it, then jabs and hooks at him with it to caress him about the chin.

20-18 Scott

Round 3

Scott is banging away with hooks and uppercuts, then leaning forward and folding his arms up in front of him. Releford pecks away with shorter and lighter shots. Scott nudges Releford back with an upturned elbow, then slaps away with wide power shots with both fists trained on that big shaggy head. Uppercut by Scott, and a left rip downstairs. Releford keeps karate-chopping out sideways with his jab. Scott is blocking it consistently.

30-27 Scott

 

"You can do this, kid! Gimme that water, girl!"

- Releford's pops. I think his teenage sister is the only assistant their patron has helping him in the corner as chief second! atsch

 

Round 4

Uppercuts and overhands by Scott. Releford is pushing into him and flipping his gloves up on the inside. Scott steps back, turns his shoulder and sticks out his straight jab. Right hand by Scott, blocked. Two lefts to the body land. Scott is pushed back as Releford tackles into him low, and they grind together in the middle of the ring. Releford ducks a big left hook.

40-36 Scott

 

Jim Grey is interviewing Chris Arreola.

He asks if it's a lot of pressure to prove his seriousness working back to a title and Arreola says no. He asks if this is the best shape of his career, and Arreola thinks it just about is.

He does look better than ever, I must say.
