Round 1 Guerrero is chasing Naugler around the ring with his right jab. Naugler stays on the outside, and flips out his overreaching left jab. Guerrero scoots in close and jabs in Naugler's face, then fixes a 1-2 on him before Naugler ducks and swoons out of the way. Guerrero keeps walking him back with the southpaw jab and jab feints, causing the much taller Naugler to double over and scurry backward with his arms folded protectively in front of him. Big left hand by Guerrero. Left to the body, and Naugler almost takes a knee, with his glove coming close to brushing the canvas as he dips. 10-9 Guerrero
Round 2 Guerrero is spider-hopping around to his left and popping his jab and rocket left at Naugler. The taller man tries to inch his way out of the range of the left power hand of Guerrero, and ultimately falls in to tie up. Naugler is backed up across the ring by the jab flying up in his face, and tries to hold off Guerrero by dropping a right to the body. It doesn't work. Naugler tries to move side to side, but Guerrero cuts him off. Left hand to the face. Left hand to the body. Guerrero is just backing his man up and rocking him back off balance with every other connection. Good accurate jabs by Guerrero. Naugler backs up nervously, waving his fists around. 20-18 Guerrero
OK, Williams vs. Ishida is starting - so I'm switching my attention to that and will revisit this card afterward.
Eh, somewhat BS 4th round TKO win for Guerrero. He landed some hurtful body shots, and may have thumbed Naugler in the eye when throwing a jab. The ref waved it off at a point that Naugler looked OK. Naugler is pissed.
Fox Sports switched to soccer instead of showing the main event. :-( ...or was Guerrero vs. Naugler the main event? (even though it was scheduled for only eight rounds, while Cano vs. Contreras was scheduled to ten) FWIW, Cano forced Contreras to quit on his stool after six rounds.
Well, does that set the stage for Vargas-Cano on May 5th? a version of Matthysse-Williams from years past.
