Paez is the guy who surprisingly beat up then-unbeaten Omar Chavez, the brother of Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (and obviously son of the legendary Julio Sr.)

    Round 1

Paez easily walks past the right jab of Castro and whacks away at the body up close. Big right hand leads up top by the much shorter Paez (listed as two inches shorter, but it's more than that). Castro is backed up to the ropes and flurried upon. Paez is flicking up left jabs from outside and dodging the right jabs of Castro effortlessly.

    10-9 Paez

    :-(

The results aren't up on Boxrec yet, though.

So I'll continue to call the action for people who are interested to know what happened.

    Round 2

Paez pushes up with his right jab, then throws a quick sudden right hand up top. Again Paez lulls Castro with the lullaby jab, and then chops at the body with a pair of can-openers with the right and left. Castro finds the smaller man hard to hit cleanly, so he dances back to the ropes and tries to measure him up for some long shots. Paez jumps inside before he can, and leans against him dropping body shots and flipping uppercuts. Paez is defending with his arms folded in front of himself, and ripping left and right uppercuts to great effect. Castro reaches down with a left hook to the body but is backed up by a high right hand from Paez Jr.

    20-18 Paez Jr.

The three minute commercial breaks between rounds (rather then the usual <1 minute) should be a dead giveaway for anyone who doubted that what they were watching was on tape delay. :yep

    Round 3

Paez is leaning in and driving his elbows into Castro, backing him up into firing range. Big right hands over the top by Paez. Castro is hurt!! Castro runs away, facing Paez and backing up. Paez jumps in on him and smashes away with hooks and rapid right hands, trying to chop down the bigger man. BIG BODY SHOTS by Paez. Big right uppercuts to the ribs. Castro covers up, defenseless against the ropes. It's waved off!!

    TKO3!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maromerito Jr. has really been fighting tooth and nail to earn some respect in the last couple of years.

A year ago, he had already been written off as another apple who fell far from the tree, and couldn't measure up to the legend who made the family name. In fact, people said some very harsh things about him - drawing unfavorable comparisons lumping him in the same category as Fernando Beltran Jr. and Salvador Sanchez II - guys who carried big names but were flat out mediocre.

Since then, he's widely outpointed JLC (admittedly, a blown up and shot JLC who'd already been stopped by Alfonso Gomez), completely dismantled and exposed Omar Chavez in a bout that shouldn't have been a MD or even remotely close on the cards (although admittedly Omar Chavez was a hype-job without half his brother's talent, or a tenth of his father's), stopped a couple of journeymen, and generally looked impressive every time out.

He's got a good gas tank and solid chin, is aggressive, an adept body puncher, and makes the most of his diminutive stature and stumpy reach.

They're showing HL of Arce vs. Parra I, from September 2010.

Fair draw. In fact, Parra could have won it in all honesty.

    Round 1

Arce is backed up to the ropes by the jab of Parra. Arce covers his head and shrinks back until having traversed an entire set of ropes, then he comes forward and pecks away at the body with lefts and rights. Left hook to the body by Parra from outside. Reaching right to the belly by Arce. High jab by Arce, and a double hook to back Parra up. Lead overhand right by Arce, blocked. Parra is now backing up, skipping along by the ropes. Clinch as Arce closes in on him. Parra shoves Arce back into the ropes while hunkered down low, and pops a combo at his head. Double left hook to the head, and a third hook down low by Parra. Arce pushes both gloves out, maybe trying to grab Parra. A quick step back allows Parra to land a flush right hand to the face of Arce. Parra hangs back on the outside, making Arce miss. Double jab by Parra.

    10-9 Parra

    Round 2

Parra taps Arce on the forehead with a right hand over the top. Heads clash. They touch gloves. Arce pushes Parra back to a corner and hacks at the body. Parra circles out to his left and pops the left jab. Arce slaps at the body with his fists held low. Parra is backed up by the wildly swung body shots of Arce. Parra tries to dance into position to land jabs. Exchange, both hooking. Parra backs out of the pocket. Arce works the body, trying to pin Parra on the ropes. Constant body attack by Arce.
