This kid is bad ass. He's been on a hell of a run over the last three years, too - despite a misleading 4-2 mark in that span. He's blown a guy out in a single round (a guy who made it two more rounds with Rico Ramos, and eleven more with Wilfredo Vazquez Jr.), avenged his only career defeat at the time - and to date his only loss to someone other than an unbeaten prospect, lost on points to Rico Ramos in a somewhat closer affair than the official cards reflect (arguably being robbed of a knockdown call and resultant 10-8 round in the third), blew out once touted Antonio Escalante in a single round in what was a massive upset despite coming right on the heels of Escalante's destruction at the hands of DPDL, had another close contest with an unbeaten rising star in Diego Magdaleno (this time actually being credited officially with a knockdown), and then most recently racking up this early 2012 Knockout Of The Year candidate (although Stevenson vs. Gonzales might have a more convincing argument) against Derrick Wilson: Perez KO8 Wilson [yt]s4wC8oWzgC8[/yt] Not a bad stretch for a kid who gets by almost exclusively on sheer hard work, not being blessed with a ton of natural talents (ie no overabundance of speed, power, agility, etc). He just hits hard and often while making his shots count and not wasting anything on flash or pizzazz. 25 years old and already with a good resume of opposition faced in just twenty bouts, he's a h2h & risk/reward nightmare for almost anyone at super featherweight short of maybe Russell Jr. and a good deal better than his 16-3 record might lead the uninitiated to believe. I salute you, Mr. Perez. :respect Some "smash hits" from his earlier catalog: Perez KO1 Escalante [yt]eYB0P0ky6C0[/yt] Perez KO1 Martinez [yt]5BTJlCalGTs[/yt]
Ya, good call bro, exciting fighter! I was very surprised how he quickly dismantled escalante. i look forward to his upcoming fights!
Good call IB. I'm still trying to figure out who a fast as hell porky Heavyweight prospect is. Might of fought 2 months ago on espn but not to sure. Had explosiveness not seen even in the top 10 HW division and would make Tyson proud. He looked like Quesada, but I think he had a more compact frame.
