Saul Carreon vs. Adrian Briones, 10 rounds @ lightweight.

 

"The Cobra" vs. "The Magician"

 

Round 1

Carreon hooks his way in, and shoulders into Briones to push him back to the ropes. Briones clinches. Jabs to the face by Carreon from outside, inching his way back in. Briones lands some hard body shots, then ties up again. Big combo upstairs by Briones. Carreon works some jabs and chopping rights while falling forward and then leaning on Briones against the ropes. Body shots delivered underhand by Carreon as Briones pulls the chair out from under him, quickly backing up. Jabs to the face by Carreon. Briones leans into him and ties up. Shots to the back of the head pumping both fists out as Briones ducks down.

10-9 Carreon

 

This is pure brawling in the classic Mexican tradition, nothing too fancy or technical.

 

Round 2

Carreon hurls himself forward and pounds both gloves against Briones' head. Lefts and rights fly straight into Briones' face and he's just eating them all! Rocking side to side, looking ready to go, but he holds. Briones is held in place by Carreon's right arm as left hooks bounce off the side of his face. The ref separates them and Carreon lands some jabs and rights to the head while coming forward. Briones is warned for holding and grinding with his head. Jabs by Carreon as Briones circles quickly to his left. Now Briones bobs side to side and pops his own jab while moving his head around. Carreon finds him with a single right hand. Briones ducks into him and gets caught in a headlock.

Round 3

Carreon is pitching forward and hitting Briones with jabs and rights up top, and left hooks to the body. They both load up toe to toe with big hooks and Briones lands his very low, on the cup. Carreon takes a bit of time to recover, wincing. Then he comes back with a vengeance, pouring more jabs and rights up into Briones' face and banging away to the body - all legal shots but meant to inflict pain.

30-27 Carreon

 

Yes, but not on the WBC feed. His bout with Angkotta isn't even for any minor title (as neither of them has one) or an eliminator - just a ten-rounder.

WBC only shows fights from cards where at least one of their bull**** baubles is on the line.
