Could be ..That title will e decided when he and Double A meet ..Lets agree that both of them are the top 2 ..But in no way did Hopkins ruin his career..

well.....i'm not gonna say Abraham would destroy pavlik, because i dont think he's a great fighter...but i do know 2 things "he's got KNOCKOUT power, and he cant be stopped", but at the same time he throws wide shots, and he's doesn't intergreat his offenese with defense, it's a fight pavlik can win.....but i'd put my money on abraham

now on to the hype job which is Kelly Pavlik....he defeat everyone in his path???....so what, so did Jeff Lacy before he fought Calzaghe, that's the whole meaning of "Exposing a fighter" beating someone who is being over hyped.....being built up as something he's not, only based on what he's done to lesser opponents

and as for the cotto loss.....nobody with half brain said Cotto was exposed, because cotto put up a great fight and was boxing margarito's ears off for half the fight, it was just a physical issue...he proved his skills and talent are legit, he was just in the ring with a bigger tougher guy

but Kelly????....the boy was the favor to win the fight, and he was being built up as "the first fighter to KO Hop"......and he was talking about how he was just gonna destroy him, and you clowns beleived that bull****

and come time to get in the ring, from start to finish he was dominated on the verge of being KO'd.....just like Jeff Lacy

that is being exposed as a hype job.....he was built up as a p4p Great when he's no more then a B+ class Title Holder

and that my freind is a Hype Job

I hope he doesn't do that. I hope he recognizes that he got outclassed, learns to game-plan a little better, and starts to learn some new skills.

Career wrecking defeat? Great careers are not built on fights against lower quality opposition. Fighters who want to be great fight the best and try to come back stronger and better from a defeat.

If nothing else, the fact that such a big American star in the making took such a difficult fight at this stage, given his alternatives, should make all boxing fans respect him, for truly, he is very good for boxing.

I like Pavlik, but I think it was dead wrong to challenge BHop. Such a huge loss will take a lot of self-confidence from him. He probably has to regain his self-confidence and I only can hope he doesn't choose AA as his next opponent. This would be the false move. His career could seriously go down the drain.

I really would love to see AA vs. Pavlik though...

Kelly just lost to a great fighter. He can either learn from the experience and come back better than before or he can let it crush him. Hopkins told him as much in the ring after the fight.

Kelly is a pretty mentally strong guy to me. He should be all right. I mean its not like he got brutally knocked the **** out and he still has the titles.

Nah man. The only thing that can take self condifence away from someone is if they get hurt. Like the knocked-out kind of hurt. That will bring the demons back every time against every fighter you face. Just getting outboxed however from the most cagey of all vets? nah man, no confidence lost there. Plus everyone wants to see the comeback right?

Just goes to show you guys, styles make fights. Winner by association doesnt count in boxing. Many people counted Hopkins out simply because he lost his last fight to Calzaghe and Pavlik beat the guy (Taylor) who defeated Hopkins twice.
If you look at Hopkin's history, he does well and performs masterful against guys who come straight ahead (remember Tito). It gives Hopkins all the room he wants to use his lateral movement, pick his shots, and move in and out of the pocket. I thought Hopkins would win, but I didn't believe he would shut down Kelly the way he did. If you look at the punch stats and see compare that to Kelly's previous fights, you will see how dominant Hopkin's was and how much he controlled the pace.

Pavlik pretty much got the same thing from Hopkins that Hopkins got from Calzaghe, a good swift kick in the pride. Pavlik went into this fight thinking he was going to make quick work Hopkins and it was evident in his demeanor by the sixth that he was aware of his miscalculation. I have not been a big fan of Hopkins, but I have to give him is due for a goal sited and achieved in masterful fashion. That being said, if Hopkins can use the injury to his pride to return to the ring a better stronger fighter, Kelly can certainly do the same.
