1 Ray Leonard 2 Pernell Whitaker 3 Floyd Mayweather jr 4 Roy Jones jr I dont see how any one can disagree with these fighters in this order but lets see....
Roy Jones has a better resume than Floyd. 1. Ray Leonard 2. Pernell Whitaker 3. Roy Jones Jr 4. Thomas Hearns Good point McManama.
what ever you think of floyd he is a undefeated 5 weight world champion and not many fighters can rival that accomplishment
Does NOT tell the story matey. Valero is a two weight world champion, but who did he have to beat to win his titles? Nobodies. Mayweather got a few of his belts fighting stiffs. Hagler, Hearns, and Jones all beat better fighters than Mayweather and that, for me, is the defining factor here. Mayweather arguably lost to Castillo, and made hard work of an old Hoya..in addition to his lacking resume in comparison to his skills.
Never said he wasn't great... and he still can add to his legacy. But he cherry picked a lot and didn't take the hardest fights out there like champions Hearns , Hagler , Holyfield and even Bhop to some extent. If floyd beats Mosley & Pacman , or even a big dangerous WW like P.Williams or Cotto, I will rethink this. But Floyd does not rank higher than Hagler or Hearns in terms of an ATG
Bhop...****..he has way more of a case than Floyd. People say he beat on smaller guys, but Middleweights historical fought fighters moving up. And he has dominating...wipe out victories over Trinidad, Pavlik, Tarver, and was the only one to stop Oscar.
Who would you say was the best US Heavyweight of the past 30 years? Holmes? Holyfield? I agree with your original 4.
part of me wants to go with Holyfield just because he was in a tougher era and fought better fighters. But, I really should not penalize Larry for his era he beat everyone they put in front of him in his prime with the exception of Spinks.
