I boxed some. I would not use the word always scared. It depends who you are up against. Entering the ring is like making a speech. You are on the the nervous side initially, but the butterflies usually go away in a few seconds.

Initiallly the dry mouth in the changing room waiting for your bout to start, pumping youself up and shadow boxing to loosen the joints and take the stress and tension away.

Thn you enter the ring and its your time you size your opponent up oncve again and no what you do, you have butterflies but its the fear of losing especialy after months of training not the opponent.

Your name gets called by the mc and you want to lay him out the bell goes and your in the elemtn and its the most peaceful thing you could imagine.

    victory is mine.

I have only spared and was a litlle nervous, was boxing with guys I knew, most bigger, more worried about being emarresed, then being hurt. (just did not want to get a ****ed up nose etc... so I still could get nice girls) I would be pretty scared to fight in front off a crowd though, would be totaly diferent, esp being dropped and emaresed, than losing.

When I was a young guy I participted in 3 competetive sports: Motorcycle racing, amatuer boxing, and amatuer wrestling. To be perfectly honest about it Motorcycle racing made me far more nervous than anything else. I've gone over the "high side" at 60-70 mph, and I been knocked down and run over, and that's a *****!
