Because it's a major topic during negotiations between two camps and the general will make it a hot topic if that's the reason behind a huge fight possibly not happening. so 1.4M at 50$ adds only 35M$ to the pot that is split between the promoters, fighters, producers, trainers, etc.

Its not complicated:

Floyd was guaranteed 22.5M up to 1.2 million PPV buys, with a share of the PPV revenue for every buy above that.

So 22.5M$ / 1.2M PPV = x / 1.4M PPV

x = 26.25M $
