I do think the uptake would've been slower for boxing considering how much of the sport loved to stick to old tried and true methods.

They were well established in other sports by the 1960's...I think they were more on the fringe in boxing in the 70's, but well established by the time the 80's hit. That's a conservative timeline- if anything, it'd be more likely to have happened a few years earlier than a few later.

I don't want to name names or turn it into a nationalistic thing, but I think they were well established in American boxing by the 80's at the very latest.

Fine but we’re removing his disease as well...

Look at Ali during the face off against Holmes. His balance is completely shot. That ain’t from old age. Least not directly.

Ali had been ageing for years....he had been fat snd podgy v wepner, young and spinks the first time but it was still a live ali and not the dramatically deterioted zombie we saw with alzado, holmes and berbick...

Ali had come back well against shavers and spinks in the rematch but the disease which really took a hold already by 1979 killed all his movement, reflexes and pizzazz.
