Not gonna lie, I can’t watch it. I’ve seen it twice and while it is a great fight, I just can’t. Not judging anyone who can but maybe it’s because of the affection I have for Owen I just can’t put it on.

A good death indeed. I honor Johnny Owens today though the ages.

I wouldnt call it glorious. More like a tragedy. Unlike some other ring deaths it couldnt really have been avoided. Owen was competitive and didnt take a prolonged beating. Sometimes boxers die in the ring and there is nobody to blame and couldnt be avoided unless you just banned the sport

Similar to Quiroga vs Akeem IMO.

I have to admit I really don’t like rewatching fights when one boxer dies in the aftermath or is permanently injured as a result of the bout.

All for watching the fight and showing respect. Johnny lived for boxing and it was his greatest fight. What he did at such a young age with no world title experience in the most hostile of environments beggars belief. I personally don't like to watch it. It feels mawkish to me but it was the first boxing tragedy I was ever aware of and it really moved me.

I don't have the same problem with other fights although the Patrick Day tragedy and the Michael Watson injury are hard to watch and I would avoid rewatching those two.

Minor point and shows my pedantry rather than intention to be awkward. If we are going to show Johnny respect, can we get his name right? It's Owen.
