Round 1

Satchell starts out strong, landing jabs and right hands while leaning side to side on the way in. Edwards is circling and trying to land some of his own high chopping shots but getting countered frequently by the awkward Satchell, who keeps his arms akimbo and elbows pointing up in the air. Almost Darchinyan-like in his approach. Edwards appears to go down off a stiff jab, but it's ruled a slip. Nonstop aggression from Satchell, leaning out of the way of most of Edwards' shots while landing bunches of punches to the head and body from his odd stance, arms turned over.

Round 2

More of the same from Satchell. Edwards is stepping to his left, throwing jabs and missing the vine-swinging head of Satchell and clapping over the top with his right hand only to land on the shoulder as Satchell leans. More crazy-arms nonsense from Satchell, but it's working for him. Exchange up close, with Satchell landing better but getting caught a bit by the shorter softer shots of Edwards.

Round 3

Satchell is leaning over, ripping off quick combos, and circling tight around Edwards. Satchell is getting touched but only brushes of his close-buzzed hair as he drops off to either side and throws Proksa-style triangular-armed shots. Edwards is getting pushed back but trying to hold the fort. Satchell is flopping and rising, landing with both hands as Edwards lobs straighter shots and misses.

Round 4

Satchell is starting to really stun Edwards now, in his face yet ducking and drooping offline to stay out of the way of the persistent but ineffective Edwards jab. Big rights winged up at 90 degree angles by Satchell, bumping and grinding against Edwards and jabbing him in the face whenever he steps outside to reset.

Round 5

Satchell is crossing his arms in an X, coming forward and jabbing high at Edwards' face. Edwards is pumping himself up, starting to really bear down and focus on his shots, and is catching Satchell up close. Nice sustained attack by Edwards, disciplined with his jab and getting some clapping rights in. Great turnaround here by Edwards. Big right hands landing flush, knuckle to nose. Satchell then starts to reassert control with his tight inside movement and jab, but doesn't quite steal the round back.

Momentum, yeah. I still gave Paul the frame.

Paul Edwards beat Kevin Satchell all three times they met as amateurs.

 

Round 6

Satchell is landing very well with the 1-2, backing Edwards up. Arcing overhand right by Satchell. Uppercut. Edwards is pushing forward but getting hit with loads of different shots. Edwards is still getting shots off and scraping a few along Satchell's face but is again bothered by his nonlinear movement, activity, and physical strength.

Round 7

Desperate uppercuts by Edwards coming forward, landing but not affecting Satchell. Slick upper body writhing by Satchell, making Edwards miss all his head shots. So Edwards goes to the body - and lands fairly well. Hard rights downstairs by Edwards, but so far not paying dividends in slowing Satchell down. Satchell is still landing combos up and down, but now moving backward a lot more. Still landing more by far.

Jim Watt gave it 10-10 but admitted he may have been a bit generous to stretch it in Edwards' direction by doing so.
