Gary McMillan vs. Kevin McCauley, 6 rounds @ welterweight

 

Round 1

Right jabs to head and body by McMillan on the outside. McCauley tries to left-hook his way in on the southpaw but finds those right jabs transforming into elbow-thrusts on the inside, unseen by the referee! Dirty *******, McMillan. Back on the outside, controlling with the right jab. McCauley is knocked back to the ropes by a lunging 1-2 with his head held straight up, and again tries to hook his way inside to no avail. Too many jabs and elbows from McMillan.

Dirty bugger, took the round.

Round 2

McCauley wrestles McMillan to the ground in frustration! Judo toss! The ref bends his ear a moment. Kindly don't do that, please and thank you. McMillan gets those elbows working once he's taken his feet again. Those and the right jab. He's dominating McCauley, half legally and half through cheap trickery. And it's enough to score a knockdown!! McCauley is battered down by a combo that's about 70% chopping clean blows and a third forearm/elbow smashes! He gets up and hops around, jabbing with his left. McMillan jabs hard into his crossed arms, knocking him against the ropes and working left uppercuts to the body. McMillan has put on his bib and set about cracking the lobster's shell, rameken of butter at the ready.

Wait, did the ref not give a count in the 2nd? :huh

Did he rule it was from a slap to the back of the head that McCauley went down? I didn't clearly see him apply a count either live or in the replay.

20-18 if he didn't rule the KD.

 

Head says repeat. Heart says revenge. :good

 

Round 3

Right jabs to the schnozz by McMillan. Wild defensive flurries by McCauley. Big looping right hand carries him off balance and into McMillan's waiting arms. McMillan tosses him back into range and pumps the right jab into his face. Diving right hand by McCauley, a lot of power on it but poorly aimed and carrying him down low in the pocket so the back of his head is exposed to a fighter that's proven himself unscrupulous in the past eight minutes. Unwise. McCauley circles slowly to his left, appearing ever more sluggish as McMillan snipes him with lefts to the body in pursuit from a safe distance. Right jabs to the lip by McMillan, snapping them out and recoiling before McCauley can even fathom countering.

30-26 McMillan

 

Round 4

McMillan is jabbing high with his right, while sliding and dragging his lead and rear foot respectively. He's begging for a slip and tumble at this rate - and there he goes! Legs went out from under him while lunging with and landing a right jab to the forehead as McCauley was receding. McMillan gets right up and resumes the attack, overhand lefts behind the right jab from outside. They tie up and McCauley slightly turns his back while curling his back against McMillan. VICIOUS series of rabbit punches by McMillan, and the ref does nothing but order a break. A couple of wild right hands by McCauley. HARD COUNTER LEFT BY MCMILLAN!!! McCauley hurt... but saved by the bell.

40-35 McMillan

 

Round 5

McMillan steps in to the center of the ring, feigning his jab and daring McCauley to stand in with him. McCauley instead backs out and paws with his left jab up top. Quick counter right jabs by McMillan, flung backhanded past McCauley's lefts as they fall short. Stern warning given to McCauley for something. Ha, ironic. Big corkscrew left hand by McMillan coming up out of a crouch, bad intentions on it but misses by a hair. McCauley keeps holding, that's what he's been warned about. Pawing the left jab, McCauley now circles to his right - toward the power left hand of McMillan. Maybe not the best idea. McMillan bounces up and down, playing peekaboo with McCauley and popping right jabs at him. McCauley is knocked back to the ropes and tries to dive forward off them with an overhand right, then falls in low against McMillan and takes a shot to the back of the head, complaining to the ref. McMillan follows McCauley around the ring and bombs him with long-range lefts. McCauley cleaves to the ropes. Right jab/left uppercut combo by McMillan, just having fun in there. Clinch by McCauley.

For a foul-filled mismatch, this has actually been a fun start to the card for some reason. :!:
