Round 1 Good body work from Smith, pushing Carr to the ropes. Not that much coming back. Nice hooks downstairs by Smith. 10-9 Smith
Round 2 Smith continues banging the body, turning over some beautiful hooks and mostly favoring his left. Carr is consistently backed up, only deigning to toss a few body shots back when Smith is muscling into him against the ropes and burrowing low into his midsection with full weight behind his shoulders. Light shots under the elbows by Carr, but Smith is carefully selecting and digging away with hard whacks in response. 20-18 Smith
Round 3 Smith lands a hook to the body and Carr spreads his arms out in a giant claw to hold him. Smith starts to focus on some head shots, landing hooks and uppercuts to the jaw and forcing Carr to lean down on him in an attempt to smother. Carr is shoved into the ropes, where Smith keeps hooking the body. Mexican style. Leaned over for extra purchase. He loves that body hook. Carr throws a wild uppercut trying to get off the ropes, then leans back out of the way of a Smith right hand and bounces off them. Carr looks very fragile here, as though each bounce off the ropes might see him flop to the canvas. Carr backs all the way into a corner and RESTS HIS ARMS ALONG THE ROPES while waiting for Smith to follow him in. Carr is gassed from blocking punches and throwing next to none. He doesn't want to be in there, and it looked like he was going to quit on his stool after the 2nd. It honestly doesn't make any sense for him to have come out to answer the bell, to only put up this effort. Another weak uppercut inside by Carr, half-hearted. More body shots by Smith. BIG pendulum shots, lefts and rights. A few up top. Carr reaches out and tightly squeezes both his arms together. 30-27 Smith
Carr's corner forfeits. Smith RTD3. edit: no, he changed his mind at the last second and sprung up off his stool.
IntentionalButt you are search a fight freak. One thing I like about our British journeymen is they seem to have VERY good survival instincts and good chins. They do an invaluable jobs helping young prospects along. Smith has very good punch selection, it will be interesting how he comes along. I think he'll be bought along slowly, but will become a British champion.
Round 4 Smith is firing away busily with jabs and rights, pinning Carr into a corner. Power shots, well put together in combination without getting carried away - not that Carr is a threat to counter. Very unwilling opponent, just riding out the distance. Carr doing lots of grabbing and pushing down on Smith's back with his arms, pinning his arms where he can, grinding his face against Smith's. Nonstop work by Smith, pacing himself without ever slacking off or giving Carr the idea he can get into it. Carr survives. 10-9 Smith 40-36 Smith
That was a commendable sophomore performance by the "Baby Faced Assassin of Harrow Weald" but he must be gutted to have his KO rate drop to 50%.
Was a pretty good scrap, I thought Smith was going to wear Carr down but he stayed in there and held on like he was Molina still a bit raw but he has some good fundamentals, good body shots, picked his punches well, turned carr well and fought rough on the inside would have liked him to switch to the head a bit more and throw and uppercut when Carr had his guard up through the middle but all in all is worth keeping an eye out for
Mitchell says he wants to end most of his fights by body shot KO but doesn't expect it will always come, he'll take the learning experience, just wants to please the fans. Nice kid, even if he resembles a bit of a cross between Pee Wee Herman and the guy from Peep Show. :think This content is protected
I don't think I've ever seen someone almost quit (but still see the final bell) as many times as Carr did. His body language gave off that vibe during literally every minute-long rest period, and a few more times in the ring during the live action. :!:
