In his prime, Mercer lost to Ferguson, got humiliated by a 42 year old former Champion who took his title shot, arguably lost to Ferguson again, recorded a draw with 7-9 Wilson....etc. One would like to favor him over a fat 10 year retired Marciano but this guy made a career of slipping on proverbial banana peels. As long as you don't corner yourself and eat 10 straight punches to the head, anything is possible with the Merciless One.....
Ridiculous thread. How would you even begin to speculate what a 42 year old Marciano would be like as a fighter?
The opening post clearly states the Mercer of the Holmes fight, however good you think that might have been. You can give Marciano fights prior to this so that he is an active ,[if losing/] fighter.
It is funny how these old senile males will give you the Ray Mercer struggled against this guy or that guy routine. Ray Mercer struggled against modern skilled and modern sized heavyweights. He didn't struggle against 5'10 180 pound cruiser weights like Marciano.
I don't think so. I think the gist is more that if Frazier (or Marciano in this case) can't go the distance (let alone win) at 42, no way he's tougher than Holmes.
We have had many 42 years old fighters.why is it ridiculous because you don't want to address the answer? You can keep him an active fighter,he doesn't have to be getting in there cold.
I know you don't have a grasp for anything kid. There are weight classes for a reason. I know you want to live in your little fantasy world where 180 pound guys like Marciano could beat modern sized heavyweights but it is just that. A fantasy. The last time there was a 5'10 180 pound "heavyweight" champion was back in the 1950's when Marciano was champ. Weird how there hasn't been a guy that small as heavyweight champion since. But who cares about logic right? Marciano was above logic.
He isn't above my logic ,neither is he in my AT Top Ten.I think you have your wires crossed pal! And not for the first time! lol
Cute blocked. But I am sure this isn't the first time you were blocked. Now let me type "lol" because it will make me seem cool online.
Marciano was a 180 pounds. If he was alive and fought in the 90's he would of been knocked out by guys like Butterbean. You silly Marciano fans crack me up.
