Katie won the 2nd round (but they gave it to Sofiya) did they not count her 2 right hands and left hook 3 punch combo?
Katie Taylor, best female fighter in history, such a close fight though, couldnt have complained too much had it gone the other way, great day to be Irish..
If you don't think its a robbery then what are u trying to say? The last round was a point either way maximum. I doubt the Russian even threw more than 5 or 6 punches in anger during that round let alone score most of them. If your gonna try split hairs in boxing nitpicking tight scores like today, its not the sport for you.. The crucial round was round 3, a round when the winner upped the ante and actually tried to win the medal. She was given that round, but it should of been by more. So if people are gonna nitpick you could be here all day going around in circles. The right fighter on the day won. 90% of people who watched that fight would agree. That's the last I'm gonna say on the fight. Roll on tomorrow, hopefully a few more wins.
Agree, Taylor is an amazing boxer and for all she has done for womens amateur boxing nobody would argue she deserves the medal and I assume the Irish are starting the weekend of celebrations about ........................... now
Look I am not digging out Katie Taylor, I was hoping she would win. what I am saying is I was hoping this olympicss would breathe some life into amateur boxing in the UK and I think it has been an awful advert and has done more harm than good. Apart from Nicola Adams who boxed beatifully from the start and fully deserved her gold medal. The scoring system need reviewing, actually it needs scrapping. after nearly every contest there is talk of appeals and that is not good for the image of amateur boxing. Of course I know at every games has the odd bad decision and some outright robberies but at this olympics the scoring is not reflecting the action and that needs to change instead of people justifying the scores with "close could have gone either way".
But pro boxing is like that. They score close rounds either way, usually to the favourite fighter. You could say the same for a lot of sports.
