The 1st bout is unlisted on the Boxrec page for the card yet (maybe a late addition) and features super bantamweight Mario Morantes vs. some other guy, who they seem to keep calling Fernando Espinoza...but I have doubts it's this Fernando Espinoza, last rated at light welterweight: http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=7583&cat=boxer

Anyway, Morantes has been kicking the guy's ass for two rounds while I've been researching who the hell they are.

 

That card doesn't even start for almost two hours. Midnight eastern.

 

Morantes is pushing for the stoppage, cornering "Espinoza" with big hooks to the body and corkscrew rights to the face. The opponent is tough but powerless to do anything to halt the sustained attack and can only push out a weak right jab while fleeing and cringing from body shots as Morantes snipes him in pursuit.

 

Mercy wave by the referee late in the third round.

TKO3 for Mario "Asesino" Morantes, improving to 5-0 (5).

Nice prospect, this young "Assassin".

Adrian Verdugo and Daniel Estrada are in the ring for the co-main event.

 

Verdugo is a friend and sparring partner of Fernando "KOchulito" Montiel.

 

Round 1

Estrada pushes his jab out and thrusts a few dirty forearms at Verdugo. Right hand crashes over the top. Verdugo looks to lean over to his left out of the way of the straight shots and sneak in a left hook. Estrada presses Verdugo back a step with the jab and continues to circle to his left. Jab to the face, feint with the right, and a left hook doubled to body and head by Estrada.

10-9 Estrada

 

Round 2

Estrada circles left and pops his jab, keeping squared up to Verdugo. A few hooking exchanges, with Estrada constantly moving and staying in position as Verdugo lunges forward and dips offline. Jabs by Estrada while circling. Verdugo drops his hands on the way in, baiting Estrada. A hook thrown while ducking misses for Estrada and he pushes off against Verdugo's chest. Feel-out hook by Verdugo misses from outside. Estrada keeps sticking the jab in his face from outside. Right hand to the chest by Estrada. Right hand, jab by Estrada.

20-18 Estrada

 

Estrada has a useful jab, and it might be all he needs against the tough but limited Verdugo.
