Cuellar is a big banger, southpaw, young and raw but improving.

Last time he met seasoned gatekeeper Tapia (been in with all the best domestic featherweights and had a few brushes with fringe world class guys) it was a step up and a real test. Tapia took him almost the distance for the WBO Latino title, but took a licking in the championship rounds and had it waved off. Maybe a bit premature.

Round 1

Dias is trying to unroll his jab at just the right intervals to get it past Bonnani's as a deterrent. Dias looks to be trying to create some space before thinking about lining up a counter punch. Bonnani is nowhere near as meticulous in his approach, just firing away with jabs and crosses, not wild, but eager. HUGE overhand right smacks Dias across the gob as he's backing up, lead hand hovering out in anticipation of a jab that never came after Bonnani had feinted it a couple of times on the front foot.

Round 2

Double jab, and a huge slashing right by Bonnani. He's swinging that arm like a broadsword. Dias is less enthusiastic to cross blades, backing up with furtive steps and trying to quickly time Bonnani's missile drops with a squat and a jab or 1-2 to the body. Big hook lands for Bonnani after putting Dias on the defensive with a right pulled at the last moment. Dias tries to leap forward with his own hook to hold his turf. Bonnani inevitably gets Dias sprinting for cover every time he starts coming forward, whether a counter is squeezed out or not. Dias resorts to clinching to stall for time. Bonnani jabs into his guard, taking a break.
