Igor Mikhalkin vs. Hamza Wandera, 8 rounds @ light heavyweight

 

Round 1

Mikhalkin and Wandera each unroll their right jab, trading evenly. Mikhalkin is a bit more active, stepping around Wandera and doubling his jab. In and out hops by Mikhalkin, slow and not very coordinated but it's more movement than Wandera who just glides in an arc or spins like a top.

Round 2

More of a mixed attack now from Mikhalkin, incorporating the left hand. Wandera tries to flop over to the side to slip shots, but puts himself within reach for Mikhalkin's left uppercut. Aggressive jabs by Mikhalkin back Wandera up, flicking counter jabs to the head and body.

Round 3

Large bursts of power punching from Mikhalkin. Uppercuts on the front foot, lunging in and forcing Wandera into retreat. Slapping counters from Wandera, trying to never allow Mikhalkin to get off without being hit back.

Round 4

Wandera is trying desperate measures now, briefly turning orthodox and leaping in with right uppercuts and left hooks up top. Mikhalkin keeps him tethered to the end of his right jab while stepping around, remaining organized in his work.

40-36 Mikhalkin

 

Power punch stats through four:

Wandera 16 of 26, 61%
Mikhalkin 17 of 25, 68%

 

Round 5

Mikhalkin steps in and touches Wandera's face with a throwaway right jab, then digs a left uppercut to the body. Wandera crouches and springs up with a counter 1-2, then leans back with his guard up as Mikhalkin drives him away with the jab. Slappy right hook to the neck by Mikhalkin. Wandera begins to come forward, sticking his jab out and grazing Mikhalkin's cheek. They circle in the middle of the ring a pace apart and parry jabs. Wandera flops over, back arched, letting Mikhalkin expend power across his verterbrae.

50-45 Mikhalkin

 

Round 6

Mikhalkin hits Wandera with a hard 1-2 to the face. Now a 1-1-2. The double jab spreads Wandera's guard like a nympho's legs and the left cross rocks his world. Wandera is knocked back, spun around to the ropes and nearly slumped over on his feet. Mikhalkin runs up and clocks him with a double rabbit punch, SUPREMELY BLATANT!

...and, it's over. :?

Not sure if a TKO or a DQ. Very confusing. The ref just ran up to Wandera and waved his arms.

Both Wandera and Mikhalkin are acting celebratory and waving to the crowd.
