Round 1

Chakhkiev is in control with his ramrod right jab. Mendoza is kept on the backfoot, covering up.

Round 2

Left uppercuts and right hooks by Chakhkiev. Big looping left, and Mendoza goes down. He's dazed, but rises. Mendoza covers up and backpedals slowly, pawing his left jab. Chakhkiev walks through it and chucks powerful hooks at him, headhunting and throwing from the hip, crashing power shots into Mendoza's arms.

Round 3

Body shots by Chakhkiev, as Mendoza remains stingy with his face buried behind his arms. Mendoza down, ruled a slip. Chakhkiev banging the body with powerful uppers and hooks with both hands, rocking Mendoza back and splitting his guard a bit to let a few power shots trickle through and graze his chin.

Round 4

Chakhkiev jumps on his man with jumping uppercuts from a forward-leaning crouch. Chakhkiev bobs and weaves under Mendoza's jab and tears up the body. Big stinging right hooks by Chakhkiev. Mendoza getting slapped around the ring. Mendoza tries to counter with his own offense but can't get set, popped with a quick and heavy right hook to the face every time he opens up. Mendoza tries one big left hook of his own but gets ducked and countered, nearly spun around by Chakhkiev's power.

Round 5

High right jabs out of a crouch by Chakhkiev. Mendoza checks them on his left glove while stepping around in a wide circle, obviously grateful for the slower pace. Mendoza tries his luck reaching across the gap with some slow lead rights. Chakhkiev circles and stalks. Hard 1-2 by Chakhkiev from the crouch, blocked but forcing Mendoza back a few steps involuntarily. Lead left by Chakhkiev is blocked but gets Mendoza stumbling toward the ropes where Chakhkiev collapses on him with a pair of chopping right hooks. They parry jabs from mid-range as Chakhkiev keeps stalking. Jabs to the body by Chakhkiev. Big looping left jumping in by Chakhkiev, missing but again driving Mendoza to the ropes. Clinch. Wild left hook and overhand right by Mendoza, missing as Chakhkiev ducks.

Round 6

Chakhkiev is advancing with his fists tucked below his chin and elbows spread wide, creating lanes for Mendoza to attack his face or body if he wishes. Mendoza is shy to take the bait, just popping a few light jabs on the back foot. Chakhkiev floats the right jab from the crouch while coming forward, and hurls in a few overhand lefts. Wild looping right by Mendoza, missing without Chakhkiev needing to any more than slow down his approach slightly. Big hook by Mendoza, missing. FLUSH straight left lead by Chakhkiev, and another behind it. Mendoza is backed into a corner. Chakhkiev sticks the right jab. Mendoza slides along the ropes, pawing out his left jab. Mendoza runs, kicking his feet up behind him. Chakhkiev charges in with a hook-2 and rocks Mendoza against the ropes.

Round 7

Chakhkiev backs Mendoza up with multiple pecking right jabs and powerful crescent shots from the hip with his left. Shoeshine to the body by Chakhkiev. Mendoza tries to hammer down on Chakhkiev's head with a right hand as he ducks but can't fight his way free of the ropes. Chakhkiev pins him there with jabs to the body and big lefts crashing up top, against & through Mendoza's forearms. A few more spurts by Mendoza, trying to slam his arms down on Chakhkiev's back but unable to find his face cleanly. Chakhkiev keeps digging the body and slamming the left up top.

Round 8

Chakhkiev paces in his corner, while Mendoza delays leaving his. Unclear what the hiccup was. Loose glove tape? Game on. Chakhkiev comes forward thrusting his right jab out from down by his abdomen, at an incline toward Mendoza's jaw. Mendoza is backed up, shoulders hunched tightly, pawing a few straight shots as he goes. Chakhkiev shadowboxes a bit while chasing him, pumping a few practice right jabs into the air while squatting and testing his balance. Chakhkiev gets close, almost pinning Mendoza on the ropes with a sweeping right hook and then a left hand over the top. Mendoza deftly avoids getting trapped by sliding his feet off to the side and turning his body to square up to Chakhkiev. Big crashing hook to the guard by Chakhkiev, collapsing atop Mendoza as he wobbles and pulls him into a clinch. Jab to the gloves by Chakhkiev. Double jab, thrown very hard, and then turned over for a big hook to finish the triplet and get Mendoza dancing away. Chakhkiev gets a slam in to the body while charging in and getting tied up.

Round 9

Mendoza down. The ref counts in his face as Mendoza is teetering drunkenly and trying to regain his footing after getting up. Chakhkiev jumps into him with big hooks to the body. Mendoza holds. 1-2 to the face by Chakhkiev. Lead left. Mendoza pushes into him, trying to hold again. Mendoza is forcing his left jab out, pushing it down into Chakhkiev's face with all his might to try and obscure his vision and soften the assault. Chakhkiev changes tactics, circling wide to his left. 1-2 by Chakhkiev over a Mendoza jab, turning his face down. BIG looping left by Chakhkiev, rocking Mendoza. A shake of the head betrays how hurt Mendoza really is. Another big shot, Mendoza down to a knee and OUT!!
