26-25-1 (22) Munguia is a late sub for 26-10-2 (17) Sergio Rivera.

 

It's on one of the other Mexican cards, probably still in progress or just recently ended. Results should be up soon.

 

Round 1

Munguia is trying to jab the body, and falling back from the right hands of Sanchez. HARD right to the face by Sanchez, catching Munguia in mid-dip. Sanchez continues to work Munguia over from mid-range, stepping back and setting up right hands with the jab between the gloves.

Round 2

Hard right hands from Sanchez. Munguia is bludgeoned into a stooping posture, beginning to slump over with his head lolling as Sanchez continues to hammer into it with right hands and big curveball left hooks to pen him in and cut off his escape route!! When will Munguia go down?! NOW!! He collapses in a heap. Somehow he beats the count. Sanchez continues to pummel away. Munguia is getting torn apart, literally. His face is busted up from all those right hands. Mercy stoppage by the ref.

That is the seventeenth time Munguia has been knocked out.

At least Sergio Rivera would have made it into the 3rd. :!: That's the earliest he's been stopped among the four times it's happened to him - and at the hands of Sharif Bogere and Josesito Lopez, no less.

Sanchez needs to step up if he wants a challenge.

Bruno Escalante vs. Pablo Cupul, 5 rounds @ bantamweight

Round 1

Escalante is darting in and out throwing the 1-2 as Cupul (who must have four inches on him) swings away with big left hooks to the body. Escalante is having trouble getting into a rhythm with those big long arms coming in a constant pendulum arc into his sides. He moves around on the outside and resumes darting in, but can't score much without scrambling to avoid the big body shots. Some rough stuff on the inside, as Escalante catches Cupul throwing high straight head shots and missing and wraps his arms around his middle only for Cupul to jerk his arm back and accidentally elbow Escalante in the back of the neck.

Round 2

Cupul is throwing wide left hooks coming forward. Escalante is looking to line up the straight left hand while holding his right faced outward to push back at Cupul and hold him in position to help aim. Big looping rights by Cupul trying to push Escalante to the ropes, blocked. Escalante circles and flurries straight under Cupul's arms. Nice southpaw 1-2 by Escalante. Excellent movement by Escalante, playing the matador and letting the taller man charge and miss with looping shots. Lots of clinches as Escalante stays low and catches Cupul on the way in. BIG LEFT HAND to the jaw by Escalante. Big right hook, turning Cupul's head quickly!
