    fighting overrated boxers...duh.

the division he is in is WAAAAACK.

He can definitely fight till he's 60. no other talent in that division.

you think a fight with dawson is going to be a war? its going to be a slap fest. that should at least buy him 4 more years easy.

He wasn't schooled, he lost by 116-112.

It's a number of things . He's a very well schooled fighter, and can negate some physical deficiencies. He cherry picks his opponents a little bit. The rest is genetics and hard work.

    Yep.

He trains with dedication. He is a teetotaller and eats & drinks healthily. He is fanatical about boxing and has steadily improved his technique to be right up there with the top old-timers from yesteryear. He has good defence and keeps his chin tucked, and has a very solid beard so has rarely been hurt. And yes he has lucky genetics to still have decent reflexes at that age.

Hopkins is a man with ambition and has tasted success despite going against the odds on numerous times. he has a vendetta against society and aims to achieve it.

also, people, Hopkins was a monster pre-35. he has not always be a 12 round fighter. when he was younger, he was a devastating puncher and a come forward fighter. watch his fights with glen johnson or with antwun echols. HBO try to make it sound like he's always been a patient fighter. he's been an old boxer for 10 years now! he's slower than he used to be, doesn't hit as hard, doesn't have as much stamina, gets hit with punches the younger wouldn't have, and is actually hurt by punches. like lampley said, they think that was the first time they had seen hopkins actually hurt. it's definitely the first time in 17 years. congratulations to pascal, he defended his title like a champ.

    Trinidad - career WW
    DLH - career LW/LWW/WW
Pavlik - really? What's he done apart from lucked out with a KO and points win over a gunshy Taylor? He was a weak MW linear champ and moved up to 170 to fight Hopkins.
    Glen Johnson - division leader?
Wright - 170lb division leader? look who he lost to in his last fight.
Pascal - division leader? he still managed to KD Hopkins in their first fight though :hey

Hopkins didn't want to know about Dawson when Dawson was the **** at LHW after beating Adamek.

Calzaghe had to front Hopkins in public to get him to fight him and look what happened there - Hopkins lost.

Hopkins is crafty both in and out of the ring, and is selective in who he fights.

Believe it or not Hopkins physical skills have declined by a lot, Hopkins was a different boxer when he was in his prime.
