Yeah right! The fact is, he would have chickened out under any circumstances, regardless! He was a coward!
rubbish, what ****ing democracy? Study the history off black soilders in the vietnam war you asses!!!
Calling Ali a coward atsch What the hell was Bush, he became president - he was ******ed, but somehow he got elected, he's a dumba55 - he had no reason to dodge the draft, so what is he?
You want to know who some real cowards were in Vietnam - The United State Army and Marines. Let me tell you a true story. France fought in Vietnam and they lost 70,000 guys, so they left and went home. The United States thinks they can do better so they kill 2.5 Million Vietnamese - most innocent men, women and children - and poison the entire country with Chemical Weapons for the next 100 years. They also lose 50,000 soldiers and eventually leave the country in defeat while claiming they won the war. To this day, those same soldiers still cry and whine before that Black-Gash of shame known as the Vietnam Memorial in Washington and claim they were robbed of victory. On the other hand, the French - who lost even more guys in Vietnam - admit that they were wrong and don't sit around and cry about it and have made up with Vietnam. Now tell me who is cowardly?
Excellent post. You are very well-informed. However it is not just a simple question of cowardice. French people are not particularly "braver" than Americans - nor are Americans more "cowardly" than French people. It has more to do with the fundamental principles underpinning the governing and running of the 2 nations. France is one of the most advanced and civilised of countries - it is true to its founding principles of Liberty, Equality, Fraternity. It has one of the fairest societies, even among the advanced and civilised nations of north western Europe. Of course it is not perfect paradise by any means but the "little people" are a lot better looked after. America is a military superpower. The dollar is king. Wealth and power are extremely unevenly distributed. The gap between rich and poor is vast, with huge wealth being concentrated in the hands of a tiny ruling elite. The general population rarely travel overseas and have very narrow world-views - (essentially they are like turkeys cheering for christmas cos they know no better). Of course there are many great things about the US and its people too - but it has a very different ethos to France. Your description of the contrasting attitudes of the 2 nations to their respective adventures in Vietnam bears this out.
Sure! It is easy to claim bravery after the politics are printed in the history books. Don't try & tell me that Ali was ever conscious of any of that! He was a coward using his religion as an excuse just like any coward would!
He was quite aware that the United States was killing peasants for no damned reason (other than pride) and his statements of the time bear it out.
??? Just read up on what he said during this period, or just watch some videos, hell even the Video I posted that is mostly a Career tribute has clips that show that statement of yours is incorrect .
