If they didn't robbed Chris John that night, his next fight could have been the JMM rematch fight in the USA...

48 have tried........ you know the rest.

Looking at his record he appears to be just a little greater than Joe Calzaghe:yep

after his big win against Marquez, he hadnt fought anyone significantly since then, excluding Rocky Juarez, but he was a B+ fighter and a good matchup for John.

Dood is too afraid to lose his record to fight any top fighters now, its pitiful.

Look at BoxRec and see where he's ranked at the division..... #3 hahahaha
Who's over him? Miguel Angel Garcia and sadly Orlando Salido. This speaks of the level of the competition he's been fighting.....

Considering he is a featherweight, a dominance half as long as his would be impressive, yet as long as him with only one even close fight coming in his championship career? How is that not immensely impressive?

Some people just don't know their featherweights or the nature of divisions below lightweight; the lack of extended dominance, the lack of challengers who will be remembered 10 years from then, the part of the globe which was commanding of the depth of the division if not the dominance. And being able to see the plethora of guys, not top 10 ranked guys, but top 20 guys he has fought, the manner in which he has rarely ever been in any trouble or lost consecutive rounds, and his willingness to travel and fight on the road.

    Elite win:
    UD12 Juan Manuel Marquez
    Good win (and historic):
    UD12 Daud Yordan
    Notable wins:
    UD12 Rocky Juarez II
    UD12 Jose Rojas II
    UD12 Chonlatarn Piriyapinyo
    UD12 Derrick Gainer
    UD12 Hiroyuki Enoki
    RTD7 Roinet Caballero
    Footnote wins:
    UD12 Osamu Sato
    UD12 Shoji Kimura

There it is spelled out for you. Not too shabby. If he were to retire today, he would go down as one of the best titlists to retire undefeated in history, no small claim. Nobody claims he is Marciano or Ricardo. Nobody claims he is Calzaghe... but he is the next tier below him, the way I see things. Chris John is underrated.

That's because he's not bold enough to make any noise in order for people to notice him. A lot of his good wins are guys who aren't household names. There was talk about him fighting Donaire. Dammit I hope that happens even if ND loses this weekend. Is John willing to fight Salido or Garcia? Kinda doubt it.

John v Marquez was very close but I don't think it should be scored the way of John.

He got his publicity and exposure against Juarez, twice but then went incognito again. Would anyone really rank him above Mikey Garcia today?
