Firstly I really enjoyed the fight last night and both fighters did what i expected them to do.

However the whole 'Kovalev is now great' just doesn't work with me , on occasion last night and it was just once or twice he was seriously countered by a 49 year old.

Bernard last night against a 32 year old Jones doesnt make it through 6 , vs Joe he gets stopped in 10 exhausting rounds and Tarver beats him very hard.

Bernard came out of that fight last night a beaten man, but in reality was in no real danger until the final seconds of the fight , I thought Kovalev did everything well but nothing great.

    Peace.

Or maybe Kovalev is just better?

I'm big Hopkins fan.and i give all the credit to Kovalev.Hopkins is not human, and age is just numbers for him.better man won tonight.no excuses for age etc..

Kovalev showed too much respect he could have had him out of there by 9 at least imo

Agreed to an extent. I think the Hopkins from last night gets spanked by those others.

Whether people want to admit it or not, being 40+ years old has its effects. Being 49+and fighting is miraculous, and it isn't an easy task to dominate a guy with the otherworldly savviness and skills of Hopkins, but in terms of Kovalev, we didn't learn his ceiling last night, just that he is way better than this version of Hopkins, and the class of the division.

As for not KOing Hopkins, it's never been done. Hopkins was so focused in defense that it was going to be a very difficult task. It was pretty clear had Hopkins opened up more, he would have been KO 'd. And he knew it.
