Will the legendary Cesar Rene Cuenca outdo himself?

    ...and surpass his previous two streaks? (for consecutive victories by non-stoppage...that is, on points or via disqualification)

    He started his career 19-0 (0).

    Then, unfortunately, in 2005 the first real 'blemish' appeared on his record when clumsy Andres Villafane proved unable to stay off the canvas and was inconsiderate enough to lose via TKO.

    Cuenca didn't sit around feeling sorry for himself, though. He set the bar higher for himself and racked up twenty-five decision or DQ victories (plus one no contest) before his next stroke of bad luck this past March, when Diego Ponce had the galling temerity and ingratitude to, while sharing the ring with a legend, sully that legend's name further by diving onto the floor taking a full count after receiving a routine left hand downstairs. Cuenca fell to 44-0 (2), a sad day indeed.

    After rebounding with a unanimous decision in May, the career-long 140lber from Buenos Aires has put an optimistic stamp on this blighted year by tonight scoring another unanimous decision (in spite of a sixth round scare where his opponent went down, but thankfully decided to be a sport and got up in time) to extend his current streak to a solid2... and counting. :deal

    Can he keep this momentum going and (with enough patience, forbearance, gentleness and carefully vetted matchmaking to ensure that only iron-chinned guys limited enough to easily outbox step in with him) reach twenty-six non-stoppage wins in a row? Perhaps even...thirty? :scaredas:

    That would put him at 74-0 (2), which most would probably agree would need to be called the GOAT record.

    As I side note- without those two blemishes, Cuenca vs Raymi had PPV records written all over it.

    Shame Cuenca is damaged goods. :-(

    He stopped three straight at one point. :-(

    No restraint whatsoever. Cuenca is - despite having lost his all-important zero - still the undisputed king of Tantra boxing.

    Nobody holds back like him. :deal

    He needs to start fighting more 12 rounders, I suspect he avoids them because it might increase the chances of something wrong going on.

    So far he only fought 364 rounds, if his next 28 decisions go 12 it will increase his career rounds total to 701 rounds :bbb

    Let's see Cuenca maintain the same level of control over the course of nearly three hundred fights, IB. Hell, he hasn't even earned a nickname like Cuffing Cuenca, yet...has he? Until he does, no one is in any position to discuss his mastery of Tantric arts.

    After all...It's easy to take your time and maintain a measured, stately pace when you're fighting three or four times a year. Try and do it when you're fighting three and four times a month. The occasional loss of control is bound to happen when you fight at that kind of pace. If Cuenca's in that position, I suspect he would be hard pressed to limit these blemishes to a mere nineteen. :deal

    CRC now has a halfway decent top line of eight or so vaguely notable (B- or higher) victories: Mensah, Yang, Jerez, Alfaro, Vilches, Olmeda, Priotti, & De Jesus.

    He deserves a nice payday in the States, maybe that long overdue showdown with Marquez (which is pure technical bliss on paper) for #50 to help make it salable for HBO.
