In progress is part one of the world championship triple-header:

Katsunari Takayama vs. Vergilio Silvano, 12 rounds @ strawweight

2/3 of the way through. Takayama has been toying with the Filipino challenger, rolling the southpaw's overhand left and drilling him with counter rights. There could be a stoppage on accumulation, but Silvano is showing a chin and some determination if nothing else.

    Have you been scoring it?

I thought Silvano would win this. I don't understand why TBR have Takayama at #1 at Strawweight. Budler is more deserving of that slot having beaten Joyi rather than beat the journeyman who beat Joyi with a lucky punch after being dominated. (Considering that Takayama also lost his fight prior to that, and was also beaten by Joyi himself). :nut

    Shutout.

Takayama is no great champion, and I don't rate him as the best h2h straw in the world (hell, maybe not the best in Japan) - but Silvano is absolutely nothing special whatsoever. I don't see how beating a middling assortment of combatants on the domestic scene earned him this shot, to be honest.

Verg has one round left to pull out a KO.

His corner probably shouldn't have sent him out for the last few. He is brave to his own detriment and needs to be rescued from himself. Takayama lacks the pop to get rid of him cleanly but is landing a frightening amount. He recently began to mix in big hooks downstairs as head shots are having no effect despite landing as flush as possible.

Having just recovered from putting his wife in a Dutch oven using her own gifts of Scottish ale and pepperjack cheese, IB soldiers on, from a tent in the backyard, doing the RBR's, in the cold, warming himself in his own Dutch oven, still running on the same Scottish ale and brick of pepperjack cheese...

The pointlessly brutal mismatch is over. Silvano kept trudging forward and Takayama kept slipping his overhand left and blasting him with a variety of counters until the final bell.

Takayama's lucky he's got a few defeats or Raymi would take that title.

    Round 1

Kameda is darting in, bending down with a front knee lunge, weaving side to side with his guard up, and then moving laterally. Naidjala is holding off from attacking while Kameda is moving, remaining stationary and showing a measuring jab. Kameda is all defense for the first minute-plus and finally begins to bend over sideways and step in with light body jabs. Kameda is catching the jabs of Naidjala on his left forearm and plugging in a few lefts downstairs.

    10-9 Kameda

Hopefully he defends that belt against Budler (who is his mandatory) and would also crown a TBR champ at 105.

    Round 2

Kameda is coming forward but not pressing all the way inside, leaving a couple of feet between them so he can swoop in with body shots and pull out at will. Naidjala is timing him with a 1-2 but getting blocked. Naidjala is rocked into the ropes by a stiff jab.

    10-9 Kameda

    20-18 Kameda

    Round 3

Kameda is dropping his chin and tilting in toward Naidjala, advancing with legs spread in a partial squat, forearms lain against his face to catch jabs and 1-2s as he pushes in close and works the body. 1-2s up top at mid-range by Kameda, and left hooks and looping rights below the elbows once he gets close before withdrawing to reset. Naidjala has yet to solve the puzzle.

    10-9 Kameda

    30-27 Kameda
