Spence should watch and emulate Mike McCallum if he wants to follow in the footsteps of body-punching Jamaicans. :deal

    Round 1

Spence is firing the southpaw 1-2 into the face of Cuevas, who backs into the ropes and twists with an uppercut lying in wait. Big scooping lefts to the flabby gut by Spence, hurting Cuevas and doubling him over. Cuevas is shelling up and sitting on the middle rope, enveloping his skull in his knuckle padding while seating himself as low as he can without losing his legs. Body combos by Spence, walking through desperation right hands as Cuevas slumps and slides his buttocks off the bottom rope involuntarily. Cuevas is down and stays on his knee for a while, only rising at the count of nine. Saved by the bell.

    10-8 Spence

Pipino Cuevas tells his corner he is about to vomit.

Pat Russell decides the party is over.

    RTD1!

Gerardo (apparently he no longer goes by Pipino and wants to establish his own identity distinct from his father's :conf) has the distinction of 93% of his career ending in knockout - scoring fifteen and suffering eleven, comprising each of his losses.

With the shape he is now in, at 34, something tells me the latter column is likely to grow at the faster clip...and that he probably won't be carving out a legacy to surpass his dad's. (although maybe that is the point, graciously distancing himself so as to not embarrass his dad? :think)
