The current EBU 160lb champ Max Bursak just defeated Gari Abijiani via UD in an eight round non-title middleweight contest.

Bursak was coming off a very controversial 12-round UD over Nick Blackwell of the UK, and is a month overdue for a purse bid with Domenico Spada for his next EBU title defense.

Something might not be right with him...

He was a very promising talent right up through last July when he beat Prince Arron in his first defense (even having some great moments late in a wide loss to Hassan N'Dam N'Jikam...) but these little things which don't mean a lot on their own - struggling with an needing a hometown gift over Blackwell, seemingly reluctant to get in with Spada, getting his face visibly marked up in taking a thrice-kayoed Georgian journeyman the distance - put together all portent ill... :blood

Viktor Plotnykov vs. Valeriy Brazhnyk, 6 rounds @ welterweight

 

Round 1

Plotnykov is driving Brazhnyk into the ropes with an endless series of lead left hooks and woodsman-ax right hands. Brazhnyk spits out his gum shield, perhaps intentionally while sitting low against the ropes, back arched and gloves up. Time in. Another long combination by Plotnykov chipping away leaving Brazhnyk no room to counter, all power shots with barely any interruption between them. Plotnykov is machine-like, throwing full blast without break and keeping Brazhnyk sat on the ropes. The ref has seen enough and spares Brazhnyk further punishment.

TKO1!!!!!
