In a shocking upset, Ryo Miyazaki - looking badly weight drained even after vacating his strawweight title and moving up to light flyweight - lost via third round knockout to Fahlan Sakreerin Jr., a twenty year old from Thailand with a padded record taking a huge leap in class.
Apparently he was drifting into unconsciousness at the weigh-in and needed to be physically held upright and escorted after failing to make the light flyweight limit. (Boxrec incorrectly lists him making 108...) https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BcxpyQhCIAAW55K.jpg He was criticized as unprofessional and called an embarrassment to his country by the Japanese Boxing Commission and the card's promoter/headliner, Kazuto Ioka. ...and then he sees his zero slip away getting KTFO ...in a tuneup. By a Thai. (Japanese boxers use Thai boxers with pretty but shallow records for sustenance on the regular) Ouch. :!: He was dominated from the 1st as Sakkreerin took full advantage of his condition with straight flurries and repeatedly had Miyazaki in trouble with left hooks.
that's too harsh. They guy made weight. period. now i'm hoping ioka get's pancaked in his next fight.
Time is relative anyway... That said, Happy New Year to all Aussie's and otherwise timewise ahead countries! arty
Round 1 Alvarado is bringing it to Ioka, stuffing left jabs in his face and walking him across the ring with his left foot stepping out, toe placed next to Ioka's front heel. Alvarado is turned 45° to his right, taking invasive steps behind his jab and crowding Ioka. Counter jabs and hooks on the head by Ioka, but Alvarado is walking through and dusting Ioka's forehead with jabs and dropping rights on the belt line. Alvarado is tasting his power but giving Ioka no respect. 10-9 Alvarado, close
Miyazaki going down is huge... As for Alvarado, his and his trainers' pre fight talk indicated an aggressive game plan hoping for an early KO. He sounded genuine.
