Tonight was my 4th time sparring, 2nd time sparring a pro. Got the crap beat outta my face :!: . I didnt have a good defense against this guy, he was a short southpaw that fought in the inside. I couldnt keep him away, or land much so I had to take the abuse until I thought I might be able to touch him. He would duck down below belt lvl alot, and pretty much stay there where I couldnt hit him. 3rd round I started to figure him out a little and changed my gaurd a bit, but I still couldnt do much as I seemed to slow. So I got worked over really good, and it seemed like he was trying to ko me as he was throwing really hard(he has a rep of being a glass jaw with strong punches). Broke my nose a bit and some other stuff. Any advice is welcome, ask me questions on what the guy did Ill try my best to answer.
When he ducks down that low shoot and upper cut, also dont follow him, box make him come to you, and as he looks to do anything beat him to it with a jab, you have to be first!! as soon as your done punching move the **** out of the way.
Thank you Bazooka, but what does shoot mean? Is it throwing a straight right then upper(Im orthodox)? Anyways thanks again Im going to work on this in the gym, hopefully some day Ill **** him back up.
Meaning throw an upper cut when he gets down low, if he is that low he will duck any straight shots you have unless you punch down which leaves you wide open, so turn the upper cut, dont put power on it, fire it quick to bring his head up, try the left upper cut first, bring his head up with that, you dont need to land it, he will try to avoid it when he see it, if done right, you should be able to land a straight right hand, in other words left upper cut followed by a straight right hand follow up with a left hook.
Ill work on this, as alot of the shorter guys stay low. Seems like it could really mess them up. Thanks bazooka.
