i know this is way too late. sorry i wasn't able to log on to esb after the fight. it was a great card overall. even the fights that didn't inolve filipinos were entertaining. banal looked good buti really didn't expect esau to perform well because he was a late substitue, the printed tickets and the giant posters all showed banal vs camargo. oh by the way, i was seated beside esua and his manager on the flight back to manila. i wanted to talk to them but i really had nothing to say. nietes visibly gassed in the middle rounds, good thing he managed to get a 2nd win and win the fight. the snake he had was nowhere near the size of what i was expecting. after the fight, i shook hands with nietes and congratulated him. it was a good night of boxing. i bought a couple of ALA shirts and shorts at the lobby, i also bought the nike pacquaio shirt before i went to the fight. if anyone here is planning to go to cebu, go to plantation bay my brothers. i highly recommend it. the people there were very nice and it seems like they know their boxing, save for a few idiots who kept on urging the fighters for uppercuts, i bet that's the only name for a punch that they know.
of plantation bay? i wasn't able to get pics of the post fight because my battery was all emptied up. i recorded the announcement of the winner between nietes and kratindaenggym. was the thai really on drugs?
man, did you see the fight of aj banal? that was friggin wicked! only 1 round and the mexican fighter went to the deck 3 times. clearly the fight was stopped coz the referee saw that more damage would be made to the mexican if it ever continued. safety first right? btw the next ala champ i'm expecting and hoping for a world title will be z the dream gorres.i'm rooting for this boy. for me he represents the sweet science of boxing, if you are fond seeing guys getting ktfo, not me. i want to see a boxing clinic of hitting and not get hit: that's why i like z. i hope he gets the title soon enough and i hope he learned his lesson from the montiel fight. btw the underdog, black called you a douche bag who does'nt know jack about boxing. duh! talking about ironic! atsch
banal is a good kid. amazing upside on him, BUT, he must practice more on his defense. i think he has the tendency to over rely on his power that he leaves himself open at times. in that short fight, there were a few moments that his oppponent could have taken advantage of the openings on banal's defense. the key here is not to let him believe in his own hype. i know the filipinos are waiting to crown an heir apparent to pacdaddy and they wrongfully called boomboom that. banal's handlers should take it step by step and not rush things. i absolutely agree that gorres will be a champ soon. he's is fundamentally sound. i was telling everybody a while back that only pac, penalosa and gorres and the filipino fighters who are ready for the big time. gorres should have won against montiel but he got cocky at a certain point in that match and he paid for it. the deductions by the ref did not help z either. i was hoping to see them last sunday but sadly, i wasn't able to. so the philippines has two champs at 105 and japan also has two champs at 105, well, kyowa is thai fighting from japan. i think it will be a great idea to put together a card with condes vs kyowa and nietes vs niida. taht would be loads of fun. and i would not mind flying to cebu again if ever that happens. and here is my ranking of the minimumweight category 1. kyowa 2. niida 3. condes 4. nietes 5. rachman 6. gejon 7. sithsanerchai 8. barrera 9. omar soto 10. kratingdaenggym note that i put the japanese in front of the two filipino champs because of more title defenses, meaning that they had tougher opposition. and about black, he claimed that penalosa's ko of gonzales was "luckier" that arce's ko of rojas, anybody who can make that kind of assumption can call me whatever the hell they want because i know he don't know ****.
