Spike TVs telecast of The Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights live finale on Saturday, December 5 was the most watched final episode in the 10 seasons of the TUF franchise, peaking with 5.2 million viewers and a 5.9 rating with Men 18-34 for the Kimbo Slice-Houston Alexander fight. The over 5 million viewers were the most to watch a live UFC fight in 2009. Overall, the three-hour fight card drew 3.7 million viewers, a 2.4 household rating, a 4.6 in Men 18-34 and was the most-watched show on cable with Men 18-34 and Men 18-49 for the day. The Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights live finale was the third most-watched UFC fight card ever. Roy Big Country Nelson was named The Ultimate Fighter after knocking out Brendan Schaub with a devastating right hand to the head in the first round of their main event bout. Earlier in the night, Slice won a unanimous three-round decision over Alexander for his first victory in the UFC. Seriously I'm gonna start **** on youtube if i ever decide to turn pro...
:barf Thats how I feel when I see Kimbo breaking these records. Got forbid people actually wanna see the talented fighters compete.
This why MMA isn't on the lvl with boxing. I love MMA, but the fact that a back yard fighter draws huge numbers in MMA is silly. But if that is the sh&t people will pay to see that is on them. Well not hate to Kimbo, earn that money while you can.
5.2 million, the majority of which probably won't be tuning in again. What a horrible fight. Houston Alexander won't be allowed to fight in the UFC again. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up in a ditch or at the bottom of a lake somewhere. He truly embarrassed and brought great shame on Dana 'Li'l Suge' White and the family.
Surely your kidding. Lesnar grabs Kimbo and stops him within 2 minutes easily. Kimbo would lose to 3 or 4 at least of the TUF heavyweights let alone Brock Lesnar. Please wake up to yourself.
I won't be surprised if we see another catch weight fight with Kimbo vs W. Silva, or Liddell, in the near future. Kimbo is 35 with an arthritic knee. I expect he will have to step up his game, or get cashed in soon.
Lesnar would beat Kimbo's ass inside 30 seconds...too bad he's out of fighting, possibly for good, due to that gut condition.
Kimbo will have a quick run through the UFC. As long as he puts on a good fight - it won't matter if he wins or loses. Just look at Tank. The guy los to every top talent he faced - but they kept bringing him back until there was nothing left. How about a Tank Abbott vs Kimbo Slice rematch? I hate to see poor Kimbo in there with guys like Shane Carwin or Velaquez or heaven forbid - Frank Mir who will try to break his arm.
jimmie - I know how you feel from a martial arts purist's point of view - but we have to look at the bigger picture. Anything that brings more people to watch the sport is better all around. I went from watching the UFC'S with a handful of my training partners on PPV through the time when they were briefly taken off the local PPV channels in 1997 to '99 and there was NOWHERE to watch the UFC to now when I know I can stop by the nearest bar or Hooters and catch the fights for the price of nothing more than something to eat. I don't care if there are too many tough guy posers watching the sport now. I've been a fan since the beginning and it's not changing any time soon.
Yep...To be honest, I thought Houston was going to beat Kimbo but when I actually saw him run, I was kinda in shock..This is the same Houston that hardly takes a step backwards ran for his dear life!:-(
