Then the same must be said for Mayweather...only ever down when he took a knee after hurting his hand.

yea but he survived and made it to the 12th round after being hurt in the 2nd. That's gotta tell you he got a good chin.

He was badly hurt by Oldsley and KD'ed by Judah's check-hook (only the referee saw it as a slip).

What I am saying is legit elite punchers KOed the better fighters they fought. Shavers didn't do this. I am not saying the guy couldn't punch hard all I am saying is he did not really KO many of the upper echelon fighters he fought.

He gets all of this praise but where are the brutal KO's of high level competition on his resume?

He knocked out Norten, and made Larry Holmes drop from one punch. I would say that's pretty impressive. Like most heavy hitters (Julian Jackson, Tito, Wlad), they themselves dont have the best chins in the world and can be outboxed most of the time. So if you can avoid their onslaught early, you generally can have your way with them as the fight goes deeper. Most great fighters know that, and will tailor their fight plan around the power hitters greatest weapon.

Norton probably is his best KO but Norton was very chinny. And knocking down someone really doesn't mean anything if the person gets up.

I know Shavers could punch but they way he is talked about you would think he would have more KO's against even average fighters which he really didn't have that either. Most of his KO's were against class C and D competition.

Well, I wont argue with you there. Though it's not like Shavers was a great boxer or that, his boxing was centered around his power. So having only one great element in your arsenal, usually will be enough to take out lesser oppenents. Though when you fight the Ali's and Holmes' of the divsion, you need much more than power most of the time to beat them. Power is only good if your able to land with it, and when he did opponents went to sleep.

This is sad. Marg went down because he got the **** beat out of him. I've never seen Marg get tired in a fight. GTFOH with that ****.

  12. Oli McCall for me. Certainly of active fighters and it's criminal if he's never mentioned in top ( of an all time list. Never even seen him hurt really.)

:good but margarito do have a good chin. It took mosley to land so many power punches before finally taking him out. Pac landed so many power shots and margarito never went down. The dude has a good chin.

To the ts, good list but you got to have McCall and Mercer in there. Infact does anyone have a jaw as strong has 'The Atomic Bull' ? Oh yeah Marvin Hagler and Chris Eubank have got to be up there too. What about..Leonard, Duran, LaMotta, Holyfield, Chavez etc
