1.) Ezzard Charles 2.) Bob Foster 3.) Archie Moore 4.) Roy Jones Jr. 5.) Tommy Loughran No Michael Spinks though. I'm a skeptic. He's got a good resume but I think he has a lot of stylistic limitations that would hold him back against the elite.
In full disagreement with this , I think I might put Spinks at #1. That's a very tough and awkward man to outbox who also holds concussive power in his hands. Charles looks sensational against Marshall, but I'd like to see more of him at 175.
Thanks DFW.I liked Johnson because he beat quite a few of the number of very good heavies of that era.I believe he beat Eddie Machen,who must have been at his peak at the time,the guy who went the distance with Sonny Liston.Agreat achievement then.
