Does this fight make the list just in terms of pre-fight magnitude? Here are some others Ali-Frazier Louis-Schmeling 2 Johnson Jeffries That's all I would put above it. I'm not sure Leonard-Hearns tops that, even if the matchup was better. (2 prime guys)
At this point it won't be 1 of the top 5 of all times. I wouldn't consider Johnson Jeffries one of the top 5 either. But the ring drama on fight night might make it a legendary fight especially if Floyd gets knocked out.
Such an epic fight. Every time I watch it I feel like one of them are just going to fall over and die. They beat the hell out of each other.
Lewis-Tyson was about as big as this in my opinion. It doesn't matter how washed up Mike was, everyone wanted this fight. Tyson-Holyfield II was also huge for obvious reasons.....and was worth your money. Leonard-Hagler is very similar to Pac-Floyd, both past prime but still the best.
No matter what happens, this won't be the biggest fight of all times. It could be in the late 2000's. Not now.
Eubank-Benn II in terms of outside of America, non-US. Gathered 500,000,000 viewers on Star Network in Asia and Russian TV and SABC in South Africa. It was watched by 18,500,000 TV sets in the UK alone (the entire UK population was 55,000,000), basically stopping the entire country to a standstill.
Ali vs Foreman was huge. But Ali vs Frazier I, better known as The Fight of the Century, was the biggest of all time and remains so.
