Definately true that even after many years the sport is way behind in punching ability. Even at highest levels it's nearly impossible to find clean punching, head movement or strong defense.

I think it's because many fighters tend to fall back on their wrestling/grappling background when in trouble and never really have the dedication to get in a boxing gym and take their licks (which can be rough in the beginning as they are essentially a beginner in boxing) to make the improvements to their punching game. Instead they hit pads a bit, do stand up sparring with others that don't punch well and feel that they are ready. Not good.

Much like some boxers --that could do well in MMA-- may not want to go to wrestling practice or brazilian jiu-jitsu and get thrown around and tapped out until their learn solid skills in a few years.

Either way, it takes a humble fighter to push through the first few years of training in a new style.

Looks like a great forum here. I haven't watched much boxing lately, any good fights coming up you'd suggest I check out?

One word of caution. Theres this **** dirty forum called Sherdog. Its teaming with UFC frat boys and every 19 year old kid with an Affliction T. You might not want to go there. You want REAL MMA discussions spread the word about ESB!:thumbsup

    Is this actually Jeff Joslin?

If so, this is awesome. Joslin is a great fighter, big fan and Fitch fight was BS.
