Agreed. The biggest attribute that Mayweather himself says he has which is the attribute of great boxers is that he knows how to predict when and where a boxer throws a punch. But the trick to that is he needs time to think. That's why he slows the pace down. How will he do that against Pacquiao? I truly believe Floyd sees that he won't be able to accurately predict Manny through his movements like he does with his previous opponents because of how akward Pacquiao is and how effective he is when he is throwing akward punches.

Questions for all of the people who believe Floyd will win.

In order to counter Pacquiao, he has to know the punch is coming and be able to block it. How will he be able to do that against someone as fast and unpredictable as Pacquiao who clearly has the power to hurt Floyd on the first try?

Who has Floyd fought who is just as or more awkward, fast and strong as Pac? All three attributes not one or two.

People love to bring Marquez in it as a comparison. Remember, Marquez had to eat alot of leather to get off and we know Floyd won't be willing to do that.

I don't see it as a handicap, I see it more as a plan B. Pac seems to do as he likes in the ring anyway and worry Roach. Pac is going to fight with the same unpredictability regardless and for the reasons I posted last, thats why I don't think Floyd can outbox Pac. He won't be able to predict him and Marquez who was most successful because he was willing to get hit in order to counter Pac. Since Floyd will not risk himself in order to get to Pac, I see him being even more reluctant if he knows Pac can touch him resulting in a Clottey type performance. Remember, Clottey was able to hit Pac accuratly as he pleased but he himself didn't want to leave himself open to be countered. We all know Floyd won't be willing to put himself at risk to get Pac so that's why I see it playing out that way.

1st question is by controlling distance and utilizing his reach advantage. Floyd keeps a jab in Manny's face and when Manny steps in to throw his shots Floyd can time him, counter him, and tie him up. Since we know Manny ain't no inside fighter, he will more than likely try to jump out, reset, and come back. He isn't as unpredictable as you think.

2nd question is no one. But who has Manny fought that has the speed, the acuracy, and skill of Floyd?

I'm sorry that I clicked that crappy article. I bet the author can't name 3 southpaws that Floyd has fought. I wonder who he thinks Floyd struggled against? The dude is undefeated. Struggled?

I can think of a hundred reasons why Pacquaio has no chance but let me fall down to these three.

    1. His struggles against Mosley and Marquez were both due to their ability to turn him and time their counters, Mosley didn't have the warrior spirit to take advantage of how many times he had Pacquaio off balance - Mayweather, legs gone or not, is still good enough to turn Pacquaio repeatedly and have him fighting off balance, Mayweather is still the quickest trigger in the game, he will dominate Pacquaio here

    2. The reach advantage Floyd has, much under-rated, again, he's fighting a Marquez style counter puncher who is better at it, sharper and has more height and reach than Marquez, not to mention probably the better chin.

    3. Much is made about the power of Pacquaio - unfortunately for him, this doesn't seem to land when he comes up against defensive mindset fighters, it's great when he fights Hatton or Margarito who both come at him, but Clottey and Mosley who were defense orientated? He had nothing for them - he couldn't really land the killer shot once both were in this frame of mind, Floyd is much better technically on defense than either of them.

It comes down to options, Mayweather has several to beat Pac - Pac has a hopeful punchers chance.

These are the 5 ways to beat Floyd.

    1. You have to be stronger than him.

    2. You need a jab.

    3. You have to be able to make Floyd miss.

    4. You have to commit to the body, and be able to take a body shot

    5. You have to be able to fight flat footed.

If you do not have the desire to pay the price, or the undeniable will to win at any cost, you won't beat Floyd.

The only way Pac can beat Money is that he gets lucky because hes out classed in every way. Maywheather is just a better all around fighter. That dont mean that he cant lose to Pac but it would be an upset. You know what they say,( when a lame gets lucky a real player aint got a chance ) Just calling it like I see it.:bbb:bbb:bbb

I actually think Pac looked better against Mosley than he did against Margarito, contrary to popular opinion. Margarito is a face first brawler, that was laying on some decent leather and nasty body shots that he never should've landed in the first place. A first face, limited defensively, come forward fighter is made for Manny. I just didn't love Manny's use of angles, footwork, and mainly lateral movement in that fight. He looked to have physically declined since the Cotto-Hatton fights. However, against Mosley he didn't look sensational but he looked better. Mosley wasn't giving him anything, really, except movement and a few defensive jabs and the occasional right hand. But Pac showed a tight guard, and basically whitewashed a powerful fighter like Mosley on the back-foot and running, especially after Pac dropped him. People criticized Pac's footwork, because Pac didn't cut off the ring but Pac rarely cuts the ring off. He's mainly using lateral motion against more stationary or come forward targets. Either way, Mosley barely landed on Pac the entire night.

Anyway, point being is both fighters have declined. Pac physically isn't quite the specimen he was back in late 2009, but he still showed me he had more physically in terms of speed & power than I thought he did against Mosley (I thought he showed less against Margo in comparison after such spectacular performances). Neither is Floyd. His foot speed just can't be what it was in the Oscar days. I think his movement would be much more important against a fighter like Pac who is shorter and has less reach than it would against most fighters. Floyd is so good and so comfortable and adept that he can stand his ground against the Mosley and Ortiz types, and he can expose their defensive holes with some of his great countering and offensive. Against Pac, though, a stationary target will help Pac find his flurries and activity far more than Floyd would like and be able to contain. Floyd can't block and slip all the punches, and eventually he would have to choose over being too defensive and losing, or fighting back. With movement, though, he can nullify a lot of Pac's activity and out-box and out-jab and maneuver Pac in a long range contest much more and make Pac work far harder. Try to think of Ali against Frazier in the first and second fight for a comparison sake of the point I'm making. I sort of have always akin Pac-Floyd to be similar in a dynamic and somewhat style sense to Marciano-Moore. Except, Floyd is younger, fresher (More stamina), faster (less power though), and a little better at countering, though. Pac, though, has much faster feet, a bit less power but much faster hands than Marciano. Floyd can fight off Pac if he choices too, he has the abilities and tools to do so. But he'll have to commit, and he has the stamina to keep up. Pac the speed, power, and stamina to force Floyd to fight. If Floyd doesn't fight back enough because he's not in his comfort zone he will be outworked and he will lose. Floyd has all the skills in the world. But he's not a God that can simply contain and nullify Pac's work-rate merely because of his great skills. He's going to have to fight him back WHILE countering. Just like the way Morales and Marquez out-boxed and out-fought Pacquiao.

I think the article stressed on a lot of key points as to why Pac could/would win. I think the #1 most important point is Pac's speed & activity, as opposed to his speed & power. But it all matters, and it all counts. It's Pac's work-rate that's the biggest key to the fight and a point not addressed in the article. That's why Floyd while better isn't quite the same as Marquez & Morales. He's more of a minimalist. Both of their fights coming up will tell us a lot about this, though.

Why do people keep saying this. Yeah, sure, the cramps affected him. But the simple difference is Margo came toward him while Shane didn't. That's what the main difference was between those fights.

The entire debate consists on whether Floyd has lost a lot of that movement. If he has he's in trouble. Deep trouble. Picture Marciano flurrying Moore while Moore's on the ropes in a cross-armed turtle shell defense
