lol @ people saying fury is overrated. The linear HW champ of the entire world. And the only man to take deontay wilders full power punch and get up. And saying USYK is overrated when he cleaned out his entire division in their own back yard. You obviously just have something against european type fighters. I think crawford and spence are overrated because look at their resumes. Simple facts, you saw it on saturday. And I will admit GGG got a bit over hyped power wise.

 

In my experience they usually don't.

 

1. Crawford: Has any other fighter in recent memory gotten as much mileage out of the “eye test” as this guy? I think not. Sure, he’s really skilled and physically talented but P4p fighters, the truly elite, are determined by how they perform against other elite talents. This guy has always been either the bigger man or the bigger AND better man in the ring. He has no business being on any P4p list, much less being near the top, until he faces a legit threat. I’m not diminishing his accomplishments. I’m just saying he still has too much to prove to be rated as highly as he is.


2. Canelo: He’s lost close but competitive fights against Golovkin (x2) and Lara in my book, and unless Kovalev either sleeps him or damn near kills him Canelo will get that “W” too. He’s a terrific boxer and a really game, really tough, s.o.b.
I like him. But his status as a cash cow has allowed him to get victories where a less marketable fighters with the same exposed flaws (slow feet, questionable gas tank) would have taken the “L.” On certain sites and amongst certain fans, I see him touted as P4p number 1...lol, NO


3. Mikey Garcia: Another “eye test” warrior. He beat Salido and Roman Martinez at 135. His status was largely a product of his family lineage and the Elie Seckback/YouTube hype machine. Never looked great above 135 both physically and tactically, much less on the level of Loma. Spence made him and his whole team look straight stupid. Embarrassing. “I see something” will be the epitaph of his career.


4. Spence: He’s clearly still arguably the undisputed best welterweight in the world, but not pound for pound level, yet. He’s not the untouchable bogeyman his backers made him out to be. Manny, DSG, a healthy Thurman, and maybe just maybe, even Crawford are rightful challengers to his throne. Hopefully a couple of these fights are made this upcoming year.


5. Demetrius Andrade: I know this guy is off a lot of people’s radars now but I had to throw him in just because I’m still such a big fan of his talent. He’s a tall, rangy southpaw, with athleticism and skill. He’s been in the game for a minute and can currently be seen pushing SNAC...smh. He’s pushing 30, maybe just past it, and still looking for his big break/ career defining fight. I wanna say he’s mismanaged his career, but at some point, you are what you are.

The entire HW division is over rated. Winning fights with less than a 100 landed per fighter, does not equate to better defense or more economical thinking boxers.
