I could probably argue him into #3 by tearing down some other HWs. I think he'd give Louis big problems H2H and probably Ali too. Lewis is my #3 but he could blow hot and cold. Frankly the top 5-6 HW's ever are quite close and its a matter of taste how high you rank them.

5 most underrated heavyweight. 1 .Rocky Marciano: Who won his every fight and his only "sin" was his small size. 2. Mike Tyson: Lot of haters. 3. Trevor Berbick:The last man who beat Ali. 4. Frank Bruno: Who never lost to a bum like Puritty . 5. Valuev: Similar but opposite situation like Marciano's because he was too big.
Very skillful fighter, and very entertaining to watch. Just had the misfortune of being around the same time as Liston and Ali.

Patterson would be a LHW-CW today. Hell, I think he could make SMW if he really wanted too. Ramirez, Benavidez and Smith are all way bigger than Patterson. That says a lot.
