not much out there on the old 5 pt must system.... what happens when a guy gets knocked down or twice?

Generally 5-4 for a normal round
    5-5 for an even rd
    Is a KD 5-3
    2 KD’s 5-2

How are these generally scored under this rule set

Philly, speaking in general, I think what you have above is correct. It is the way I score a bout when the 5 point system is employed in a lot of these fights that we score. Unless someone knows for certain, I think you've got it right.

Even the California system used during the 60s and 70s was similar, only it was 1 point for a round, an extra point for a knockdown, another point if it was 2 knockdowns. Fighter A may have won the 1st round by a score of 3-0. If you look at the Joe Frazier-Eddie Machen fight it is scored 14-0, 14-1, 14-2. It ended in the 10th but there were knockdowns and dominant rounds involved which were garnering that extra point. Also the Raul Rojas - Kang IL Suh bout that had scores of 12-3, 13-6 and 14-5 because of several knockdowns. I'm wandering from the subject matter here. Suffice to say I have always scored the 5 point must in accordance with the 10 point must.
