The must is an understatement.

 

Pacquiao is hard to evaluate because of the types of fighters he fights. He made his reputation by fighting fighters with one particular style. That's why he was known as the "mexicutioner". I just don't think we have seen him fight a wide variety of fighters, so its hard to determine if he is as great as people want to make him out to be.

Of Ring's current P4P list; Martinez and Wlad are worse defensively than Pac. And that is just recalling the list as it stands now, off the top of my head. If you're talking about 'ever' then there will be numerous fighters with a more leaky defence than Pac.

Defence isnt limited to shoulder roll. There are more subtle skills involved. Take someone like Duran, in my opinion one of the best defences of all time but you wont hear him mentioned alongside Sweet Pea and Willie Pep because his defence wasnt the obvious and accepted style.

I'm not for one minute, comparing Pac to Duran but just highlighting that just because you dont fight like James Toney doesnt mean you have a poor defence.

Floyd is better offensively when he chooses to fight this way, he doesnt get hit as often as Manny and makes the opponent think too much about his next move.

Floyd is obviously better defensively, all around the better fighter.

I am not saying manny isnt a good fighter because he is.

Mayweather is greater than Pacquiao because:

1. He used steroids at a early age
2. He chooses his rivals carefully
3. Only fights when he know he will win
4. Repeating thousands of times he is the greatest
5. Running ******* coward chicken style he calls boxing

 

Pac's defence is underrated to the fact that he uses offence, workrate, footwork, and timing as part of his defence, it's hard to read what he will do next because of his style.
