At this point Knives, if Mayweather beats a guy like Sergio Martinez for instance to claim the 160lbs belt, he deserves to be ahead as far as I'm concerned. So he ain't that far apart...

I just wanna point out that Mayweather became a champion in 5 different weight classes. 3 of them were lineal.

Pacquiao became a champion in 7 weight divisions. 1st only person to do it today. Correct me if I'm wrong. 4 of them were lineal. 1st and only person to do it today.

    Well I respect your opinion.

I agree but Manny improves from fight to fight and he might be a better fighter now. Certainly in the last few years he is the more relevant fighter, he demolished Hatton and DeLaHoya who gave fits to Mayweather and demolished Cotto who defeated Mosley, the best fighter on Mayweathers resume. Also Mayweather took some time off which didnt help him much.

Yes you're right. It's just a matter of putting everything into perspective, overall skills, accomplishments, level of competition, record, etc.

It's always a subjective point of view anyways...:good

Great post and perspective. There will always be a debate but as in the case for all things.....in time the landscape will have a much clearer picture and the majority will based their judgement on substance. Who has more at the moment is non debatable so it's almost unfair given both Manny and Floyd are still active fighters with some yrs left to solidify their legacy.

    Let's do common opponents:

Floyd_hatton - Floyd lost some rds, it takes 10 rds. Hatton's not 147 pounder.

Pac-Hatton -Total Domination!!! One Punch KO !! Hatton's Unconcious for 10 minutes!! It takes on 2 rds. this on Hatton's own 140 weight class.

Floyd vs DLH, Floyd lost a lot of rds. Bored the fans. Won only SD with washed up DLH.

Pac vs DLH, Pac in total control, total Domination, DLH' face beat-up beyond recognition, Pac retired DLH.

Pac vs Prime JMM, Pac robbed in the 1st fight. Pac won the 2nd fight in an exciting fight. This at JMM's Prime weight class against a Drained Pac.

Floyd-JMM, JMM need to jump 2 weight classes. Then Floyd need to cheat JMM to the agreed weight and comes in overweight.

I agree but Floyd fans can spin that to meet their perception as well. I think it's pretty clear with common opponents Manny has out done Floyd but of course Floyd beat them first except for JMM.

George Foreman took a few rounds to KO frazier. Ali lost, and only decisively beat Frazier once out of 3 fights.

    Means nothing.

DLH was shot and weight drained. Stevie Forbes was whipping his ass.

Pacquiao got his ass whipped twice. Scored 3 knockdowns yet only got a draw in the first fight. Got a knockdown in the second fight and only won by a point. Many thought he lost.

Mayweather vs Marquez was one of the most lopsided 12 round fights in boxing history.

Seriously? You did NOT see that fight. Forbes took the most ONE SIDED loss of his entire career and didn't win a single round. Get a grip homie!

    Pac:
    De La Hoya
    Marquez (1-0-1)
    Hatton
Cotto (who's borderline, but closer than Castillo for instance)
    Morales (2-1)
    Barrera (2-0)

    May:
    De La Hoya
    Marquez
    Mosley
    Hatton

Even if you want to throw Gatti (who might get in on "fame" more than resume) or Castillo, that's still less wins over likely HOFers.

You're right that I missed Vargas.

FWIW, I have Mayweather ranked #1 over Pacquiao at the moment, so I'm not trying to just diss him or something.

If you believe that fight was onesided I dont know what to tell ya. Didnt he break OScars orbital bone or some ****. Oscars face was ****ed up. And he admited he was getting his ass whipped in sparring.

Gatti will get hof, even though he doesnt deserve it as a boxer. Castillo SHOULD get into the hof. He was a better fighter in his prime then Hatton.

Cotto shouldnt get hall of fame and probably wont. He only won vacated belts until he beat the weakest title holder at 1, never beat the champ at any weight class.

CAstillo was the best fighter at his weight class, something Cotto never achieved, so I disagree.

    True Hofers

    Pacquiao

    Barrera
    Morales
    Marquez
    DLH

    Mayweather

    Castillo
    Mosley
    DLH

So yeah Pacquiao has a slight advantage.

Yet you call yourself a fan of both fighters but you are clearly a greater fan of Mayweather. You need to revisit your definition of greatness, this falls more on your biased opinion more than anything.

You have made some good points but you sugarcoat it too much and not to mention your misleading "facts"

    Thank you :good

    This one completely nailed it.
