    1. Cotto will not outbox Mayweather.
If Cotto attempts to outbox Mayweather Jr, he will be picked apart. Mayweather Jr is a master boxer who cannot be outboxed due to his wide array of skills and defensive wizardry. Cotto will not be able to utilize the same successful strategy he used against much slower fighters such as Clottey, Margarito, Mayorga, and Foreman. If he does, he will get embarassed by the much faster and skilled Mayweather.

    2. Cotto cannot handle superior speed.
As witnessed against Pacquiao, Cotto cannot deal with superior speed. Cotto stated that he could not see where Pacquiao's punches were coming from due to the odd angles. Against Mayweather, it will be no different. While Mayweather may not punch from the same odd angles that Pacquiao punches from, he still has a quick hand release and opponents never know what punch is coming at them next. Mayweather's fast pull back counter right hand, lead right hand, jab to the pit of the stomach followed by the left hook up top, shoulder roll-counter uppercut, in addition to everything else he has in his deep bag of tricks, will consistently find its mark repeatedly which Cotto will not be able to deal with. Margarito and Mayorga, who are considered slow handed fighters, were able to hit Cotto more than a fighter of his caliber should get hit.

    3. Cotto does not like to get hit anymore.
Miguel Cotto has lost his appetite to take punishment after his first loss against Margarito. He no longer likes to put himself in the line of fire by stalking his opponents and relies more on lateral movement and overusing his legs to get out of harm's way. Against a sharpshooter like Mayweather, he will get hit whether he likes it or not which will lead to him focusing on avoiding the incoming fire from Mayweather thus costing him the majority of the rounds.

    4. Cotto's recent subpar opposition.
The public should not be fooled by Cotto's performances against Yuri Foreman, Ricardo Mayorga, and Antonio Margarito. It is nothing more than smoke and mirrors. Foreman and Mayorga are not elite fighters and it showed against Cotto. As for Margarito, Cotto won the fight fair and square but the fact remains that Margarito had a surgically repaired eye and was a few steps slower from the beating Pacquiao gave him. Despite this, he was still able to give Cotto another tough fight. Many wonder if Cotto would have made through the last few rounds had the fight not been stopped. Although Cotto deserves full credit for these fights, let's face it, these 3 fighters are not anywhere near the class of Floyd Mayweather Jr.

    5. Cotto has never faced a defensive wizard such as Mayweather.
Given the fact that Cotto has never faced a defensive genius such as Mayweather, it is hard to imagine that he will know how to break down Mayweather's defense. Mayweather's shoulder roll, ability to duck and slip punches, and superior foot speed is something that Cotto has never experienced in his career and it will show come fight night.

No doubt Cotto loses this fight. Only Newyoricans and mainland Ricans thinks he has a chance.

If a C minus figher like Ortress bothered Fraud, I am sure that Cotto will just do fine. Or a jittery Mosley looked unmarked after a 12 rounds fight, I am sure Cotto will be better.

Unanimous decision is all she wrote.

If you are so confident, bet all your money and possessions on a Mayweather win. If Cotto has no chance like you think, you will be getting free money.

I'm a NYrican and I know aside from a lucky punch that lands solid, he doesnt have a shot in hell. Floyd will see everything coming and pick Cotto apart.

Cotto def has a shot, people act like this is a prime Mayweather he will be facing. Mayweather has not been very active as of late, his speed and footwork is not what it used be, and Floyd is fighting only his scond fight @154.

Cotto definetely built some momentum with his new trainer and his win over Margarito. None of these simple boxing writers will talk about these other factors because its much easier to write about the already obvious advantages that Floyd has. Same old............ :tired

I like and have a lot of respect for both fighters, but i have to use the "styles make fights" line again.

Recently Cotto has lost his brawling and turned into a pure boxer. A pure boxer vs the best pure boxer of my Era = bad news for Cotto.

You simply cant Outbox him for long enough to win.
