He sure wasn't gun-shy in the pocket against Margarito. I think that fight reinvigorated him and brought back his sharpness.

I didnt see your post earlier until now but when I used the example of people's rationale of cotto being a "good fighter" I wasnt singling out your post but rather in general what Ive seen over the past few weeks.

The biggest thing that stands in the way myself for giving cotto much of a chance is not that maybe he can win some rounds or come up with a decent gameplan but doing it consistently over 12 is going to be hard because mayweather always adjusts and he almost never looses rounds in the second half of the fight and never gets tired

That's why he has to come in with backup plans and be prepared to give different looks in switching up his rhythm. That's his best shot.

So if a fat man beat a one legged man in a race, would you call him fast?

Cotto is grabbing his last big payout. He should make more money of this fight than any of his other fights combined. He's done.

No, but if a great boxer overcame a stylistic challenge he crumbled under before in a rematch, I'd commend him for it. Which is what I'm doing. That's a terrible analogy, and you're dismissing Cotto's improvements just because you feel like it. Carry on lacking any analytical contribution like half the rest of the forum does.

Not to discredit Cotto but the chances he has is that Floyd is not physically in his prime anymore and not as mobile as he used to be causing him to have a more fan-friendly approach. Can be bad for Cotto but at the same time puts more risks to Floyd too. Floyd is not untouchable though, nobody is and it's no telling when his amazing accuracy & reflexes(which have declined a bit) drop dramatically. AND with moving to 154 for the first time in 5 years we don't know how that will affect his speed/quickness.

First of all, i am a huge fan of both Cotto and Mayweather but I think many underestimate Cotto.
He has victories behind him and the win over Margarito gave him more confidence, the stamina will not be a problem either because Cotto and his trainer knows this.
Floyd will not go head to head with Cotto, he will try to move and score points that way but Cotto will catch him.

Cotto by TKO, you heard it here first ! :thumbsup

cotto does better against boxers, than pressure fighters. cotto, maybe, has 50% chance if floyd decides to box all night. floyd should be the aggressor and push cotto on the ropes.

Diaz is going to be a huge asset in preparing for this fight. As mentioned, Cuban fighters thrive on movement and countering. Obviously Floyd isn't Cuban, but Diaz i'm sure has some tricks up his sleeve for overcoming at least some of Floyd's assets.

Will it be enough? No. But it isn't going to be the Gatti style beatdown I've heard some people try and claim.

Cotto doesn't have a shot. Period. Some of Mayweather's fans here keep trying to pump up Cotto and make him look like a worthy adversary, and Mayweather haters here r only praying he has a shot. Old Cotto means boring unanimous win for Mayweather
