Does anyone actually care about the promoters for this? There are 5 evenly matched fights which is fantastic. If they actually picked their best fighters / weights those fighters wouldn’t have been picked. Opetaia, Jesse Rodriguez, Dmitry Bivol, Andy Cruz, Sunny Edwards, Jaron Ennis, Subriel Matias, Jack Catterall etc would walk through anyone on the Queensbury side. A UK vs US or US vs Mexico concept would be more interesting though.
Totally agree. Far too much Promoter v Promoter garbage . Great card with 5 very good fights and long may it continue but preferably in the UK so fans can attend.
And do all these Saudi shows have to be PPV? Surely the money they’ve got and the exposure on regular Sky/TNT/DAZN can more than make up for a lack of PPV sales. While not all Saudi ones, this is the fourth PPV in six weeks!
Sunny Edwards couldn’t walk through an open door. But no I don’t care about the promoters. Especially since Hearn has been allowed to draft in a bloke he’s spent the previous 8 years slagging off and has never promoted once.
I think it’s because Turki wanted two heavyweight fights and wanted all fights to be competitive so forced them to only select weights that were evenly matched. Certainly not their best 5 fighters on both sides and just a marketing tool to entice the casuals and football team supporters. Sunny Edwards is one of the best fighters pound for pound in the UK even if he’s a flyweight. No shame in losing to Jesse Rodriguez who is probably the best young fighter in the world. Also not a fan of Ray Ford vs Nick Ball being the 2nd fight on the card. It’s the only world title fight and should be chief support for me. I reckon Ball wins this one. Ford is done at 126 and should have moved up to 130. Ball may stop him late.
I like Nick Ball's style and really looking forward to this fight. This would be a good headline fight anywhere else in the world.
100%. It's the fight I'm most looking forward to and should definitely be chief support. I think Ball wins by KO, I'm convinced he drops him round 8-10. Either way it's a cracking fight and can't wait. WAR NICK BALL!!!!!!!!
Anyone else dislike the way Parsons and Hearn interact during their interviews? I’m sure he’s a nice kid and he’s done really well for himself but the “banter” he has with Hearn at the start of all his videos about what he’s wearing is really cringe. He even posts screenshots of their dms onto his Instagram. Seems like a weird relationship there. Matchroom vs Queensberry would have made sense 3-4 years ago during covid times when there were actual fights to be made. The fights on this card apart from Ford vs Ball and Sheeraz vs Williams have just been forced and manufactured so they are competitive.
anything to get these guys finally working together the UK talent pool is essentially halved when Hearn and Warren stick to their own fiefdoms, passing around the same free agents or Euro jobbers I hope this is the start of something regular, it can only be good for the domestic scene
Hearn was financing him at Boxing Social and in return he sings Matchroom's praises and becomes a bit of a fluff piece for them.
