How does American fighters holding belts refute the fact that I stated: "Most Americans don't know **** about boxing". It don't matter how long you roll on the floor :rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl in laughter :rofl, that statement I stated will remain a fact for eternity.

Britain is the isle of glass jaws and glass toes

But I'd take that any day over America, land of the glass hearts, home of the PEDs cheats.

America has the most glass hearts per capita worldwide :deal

great fight that really put the boxing in Europe on the map.

Calzaghe then went to USA and cleaned that **** out.

I remember staying home that afternoon. I really wish I would have gone to the beach though. Not an exciting fight, hardly a mark on either after it was over.

Topped off the end to a fantastic reign that had Eubank, Reid, Woodhall, Veit, Brewer, Mitchell, Lacy in it, all fighters who at one time held a SMW title and then Kessler.
Great way to leave a division.

  8. It was a great fight. Very tense throughout. The HBO commentary team were bang on form and really added to the occasion. The great Manny Steward was full of praise for both fighters.

Can't help thinking Calzaghe would have got the stoppage after that body shot if the ref hadn't jumped in.

this was a great fight in the technical department, if not in the "thrills and spills" way. kept me hooked for the full twelve rounds which a lot of fighters are unable to do these days.

for the first 6-7, it was pretty much on even terms but joe pulled away with the better skills, heart, and stamina. even though joe was past his best at 36, he was still an elite fighter. this proved it. no cheating, no holding, no dodgy ref, no dodgy judges... perfect.

to tell you the truth, i loved both guys and didn't really want this fight to happen, but when it was made i wanted joe to win but for kessler to do himself proud. he did that.

i felt the same way when i was hearing that cleverly and kessler were going to get it on. i'm glad that it isn't happening.

but yeah, joe proved himself to be the greatest at the weight in history with that win. don't see anyone being able to match it.

ward? get the **** out of here...

I agree, Calzaghe proved himself the greatest at the weight after his clear victory over his nearest rival. But you have to give Ward credit, he has accomplished quite a decent resume in a short period of time and also gave Kessler a one sided beating. I still have Calzaghe as the best SMW of all time but Ward is right at his heels.

As for Cleverly vs Kessler, make it happen. Cleverly seems to want the big fights but is not getting them, so he hasn't been able to prove himself as a world champ and a Kessler fight, even against the current version of Kessler, would do just that. I think Kessler would beat Clev even at this stage, Clev aint got the skills of Calzaghe or Ward, and Kessler got the chin and heart to put it on unproven Cleverly.
