he had a VERY weak win against Hagler. He beat Duran in a situation which many question--and he lost to him as well. He had very good wins against Hearns and benitez---two impressive wins, though both close fights. So against A-list competition he had 2 ok wins which many question till this day and 2 very good wins. He had a so-so resume outside of those fights. That should not get you top 20 ATG status. SRL's accomplishments are overrated. He is a top 50 guy, whose national/international personality gets him upped.
Ali deserves no2, best ever HWT, phenomenal prime yrs, great resume, very good longevity, fought in more than one ATG fight... what more do you need ?
Everyone who has participated in this thread should come up with their own list, it's difficult to make a list that everyone thinks is a good one (obviously a perfect one is an impossibility).
I have to use a couple of Gordon Ramsay statements regarding this post, they are...... `**** ME SENSLESS` & WHERE`S YOUR ****ING BRAIN ?`
I have only ever come up with a top 10 & I dont use fighters with close to 0 footage or fighters that I havent seen a decent amount of..... with that in mind & for what its worth, here is my top 10...... 1. Sugar Ray Robinson 2. Muhammad Ali 3. Willie Pep 4. Henry Armstrong 5. Roberto Duran 6. Sugar Ray Leonard 7. Joe Louis 8. Julio cesar Chavez 9. Pernell Whitaker 10. Marvelous Marvin Hagler ?
Good list. Whats your reasons for having pep over armstrong btw? I disagree with Chavez over Whitaker...
I dont usually comment on these types of lists but this is one is horrible, just horrible. Too many points to note but some picks... Tyson not top 50, Foreman not top 20, JCC not top 25, Sweet Pea too low, Ezzard Charles too low and are my eyes closed or is Bob Fitz not on the list?
