He couldn't fight that exact way against Calzaghe though. He was still a great fighter in the first fight, the difference was just level of opponent / styles.
If Hopkins had of fought the way he did against Pavlik when he fought Calzaghe the result may have been different. Hopkins was obviously in better shape for the Pavlik fight and if a rematch with Joe happens, I would not bet on who would win.
Aw gee , you sooking that your fighter was beaten by a white boy, fair and square? The difference was not Bernard's form between Calzghe and Pavlik, bu the opposition he faced. While I doubt they will fight again, and have no need to see them fight again, Joe wins. Bernard is a sook too.
What's with all these people thinkin that if Hopkins fought like he did against Pavlik he'd beat Joe? Are people really that dumb? If Hopkins fought like that against Joe it would have been a wide UD in Joe's favour. Joe would prefere Hopkins to be aggressive and walk right onto his slaps, rather than waitin' for Joe to come at him so he could spoil Joe's movement with rough tactics. People have these crazy fantasies in their heads. It's ridiculous.
Maybe you mean, "It would be a UD this time". It couldn't be a "wider UD", since last time it was a Split Decision.
Let's see...You got one guy being the aggressor, throwing most of the punches, landing most of the punches (even if they weren't the most powerful punches in the world)...Then you have a guy popshoting one punch at a time, holding, cheating, faking an injury because he was tired, and on the ropes. Yep, that fight was real hard to score! There's no need to even keep track of punch numbers in fights like those...It's OBVIOUS!
It wont happen, and if it did Calzaghe would win more convincingly. He would be far less complacent early doors and Hopkins would not be able to get away with two breathers based on fake low blows. Calzaghe adapts during tough fights as he figures a guy out, he would be in that position from round 1 against Hopkins in a rematch and would win a UD by several rounds. But it is not going to happen anyway.
Buddy... You're talking about people being dumb, and you've got not basis whatsoever. This is dumb. ^ Calzaghe lives for the moment when an opponent goes into a shell and stops fighting. That's when he's at his best. When an opponent is fighting back they always have a chance to do damage and/or win, as exhibited throughout Calzaghe's career. How many Calzaghe fights have you seen?? :blood Hopkins, more so than anyone, was busting Calzaghe up when he was letting his hands go. Cut the bull**** pal. Calzaghe couldn't live with Hopkins in a shootout. Did you not see the first fight?? Hopkins couldn't miss, and Calzaghe couldn't land to save his life when they were exchanging.
Exactly. And these guys on this website act like Calzaghe was really beating Hopkins up in that fight. The one of the posters tried to say he was landing most of the punches he threw at hopkins.:rofl These Calzaghe fans are in lala land. Hopkins is gonna punish him if they fight again, and I can't wait to see it. But that is of course if Calzaghe has the balls to take the rematch to prove that he really won the first fight when indeed he really didn't, even he knows it.
Have you been boxing yourself? How come he didnt bust him up in their first fight? How come Hopkins literally STOPPED throwing punches, something was obviously concerning him..
What about hopkins pretending Joe caught him low when it landed clean on the belt ? Cheating to get a breather in the fight is hardly the actions of a guy who thinks he's winning. Much as i like Hopkins, he got beat, and he knew he got beat.
Better question; how much do you know about Bernard Hopkins? Because he has a very long history of innactivity in fights. Either you guys don't know what you're talking about altogether, or you have an agenda here..
Look at Calzaghe's face after the fight and than look at Hopkins at the end of the fight. When can clearly see who got busted up in the fight. And Hopkins stopped throwing cause he was coasting in a fight he knew was winning. He even elaborated on it in his interview after the Pavlik fight when he said he's been playing it safe cause of his age. If you think he's gonna do the samething again when in fact he's one of the best thinkers, adjusters, and master at studying opponents in fights, than you haven't been paying attention to Hopkins career.
