This is how I saw the fight.

 

Me too, I laugh at HBO and their foul judges and bask in the glory of Pavliks triumph! Boys, I believe HBO has taken a big step to being cured.

 

I scored it exactly like Guido and John Stewart, except for round 1 where I had a draw?

So 2 points in favour of Taylor on my scorecard.
But when the rounds are even you can easily see very different scorecards. But I think the judges where pretty spot on.

I'm not a Taylor or a Pavlik fan by the way, so I don't think I'm biased -and I couldn't care less who should win - except the best man.... :bbb

 

When people had Taylor winning, what were they seeing?

Pavlik was landing the cleaner, harder, more consistent shots for 7 rounds. Not to mention he was setting the pace of the fight and generally the ring general i.e. pinning Taylor on the ropes and in the corner.

How many active fighters have fought that level of opposition in thier last 6 fights.


He was very close to stopping Pavlik, and he was getting to him sooner than Kelly was getting to Jermaine. IMO I think he gave a good account for himself. He lost to the man with more focus and poise. He took alot of right hands from Pavlik and handled them pretty well.

I think in the grand scheme of things, We were all treated to a great nite of boxing and both fighters gave us a good fight.


BTW I had it 57-56 Taylor.

 

I was a little surprised at the scorecards but many of the rounds were close. Judges can be influenced by a knock down in that it makes them concentrate on that boxers work. the fact that Pavilk took time to recover will have contributed to this habit. Pavlik has a very high work rate and I know from the amateurs that fast punched often do not register, particularly with older judges. Taylor was slower and more deliberate and his work is easier to see.

 

I had Jermaine slightly ahead, but i started to see flaws all the way through where Kelly could exploit gaps in the defence.. Pavlik did exactly what he should do.. Jermaine just was the last man to see it coming. Pavlik is too good a puncher and technician to overlook.

 

You know, you're one of the guys I actually respect on this site, but you got it wrong this time.

Judges have to make a living too.
Its a business.
Taylor just couldnt hold up his end ---- go the distance.
Too bad.

 

I was furious when I heard that ****. Leddermans daughter is a usually an accurate judge but I was surprised when she had it different from her dad.

but 2 of those rds could have gone taylor's way.

if anyone was winning it was taylor.

 

It was competitive the whole way, regardles of what your scorecards were. But by the 4 fourth kelly seemed to find his rythm. This is a rythm which is hard to break, which is why I felt he was gaining control from this point, backing taylor up, still geting hit, but sticking to his guns and controlling the pace.

 

Bingo. Sorry HBO, you can't get your post-boy a gift decision when he's lying on the canvas! :-(
